This is one important point. Oil.
Kuweit has oil, Tibet has not.
So is this all about oil?
If a country doesn't have oil it is okay to go in and take over, and every one says "Well, they have no oil so why care?". Sweden, along most of the states in US has no oil either. "Come on and grab it, noone will care!"
Also, as pointed out, Tibet may be oil rich. However, the differnece here is that the US is dependent currently on Middle Eastern oil and not Far Eastern oil. Not to mention the military/economic implications involved in spanking China.
As far as oil being the motive for the US to act on anything, I would say that for the most part any and all actions are based upon percieved national interests. For example, what would be the national interest of the US to defend Tibet? Granted, the US showed a brief humanitarian interest in Samolia as they sent in peace keeping forces to help feed the people, however, after a few bloody skirmishes the US lost all interest in helping the starving people of Somalia. If the US national interest involved helping the poor and oppressed they would have been in the Sudan as of yesterday!!!

If it is true, why is the US not tapping into it? Is it because the US is concernced with the environment in the North American region? Is it to limit oil taken out of the ground thus limiting green house emissions? Is it an attempt to drain the world supply of oil and then have the reserve to fall back upon thus having the last drops, so to speak, all to themselves? What other scenerios can you think of?

That SMSBear716 is counting everybody else's oil as American oil, which in a pragmatic sense, may be true.

Kuweit was invaded by the Iraq 1990.
Tibet was invaded by the China 1959.
Both were peaceful countries, people were happy.
Both invading regimes had the same kind of explanation for the invasion:
"Kuweit has always been a part of Iraq!"
"Tibet has always been a part of China!"
Kuweit were liberated rather quickly by military forces.
Noone bo ...[text shortened]... bout Tibet.
Kuweit is still a free and happy country.
Tibet is still a occupied country.
The unrest of recent weeks was sparked by Tibetans rioting, the riots were quelled in the Same manner as Any other riot in China.
