I think Armin Meiwes, the German cannibal, was convicted under straight manslaughter/murder charges - though I don't know if the judge included a cannibalism element?
And what circumstances would you consider it ok to eat human flesh? (Apart from the obvious plane-coming-down-with-the-Uruguayan-rugby-team-in-the-Andes scenario I mean)
After much deliberation I concur about the thigh.
Originally posted by catfoodtimPersonally, the circumstances would have to be fairly exceptional--as in my example of someone asking other people to do it (as an expression of a personal philosophy, in that particular case).

Cannibalism, historically, was done either for the protein or for religion. Now I think we have sufficient alternative sources of protein to eliminate the first reason. If someone wanted to eat flesh for religious reasons (perhaps to investigate Aztec roots), provided the flesh were permissibly obtained, that would be ok.
A third valid reason for cannibalism might be research.

The thigh is probably the best place to start.
Seriously, though, it's a question of law that I'd like answered. (Cannibalism seems quite acceptable to me under certain circumstances).
I'm not sure why you would turn to a forum than.
