Will be an interesting battle this weekend at the LP Convention.
Government grew faster under trump (precovid) than any president in 40 years.
A libertarian voting for Trump is like a vegan eating a steak.
@wildgrass saiduhhh…you left one out…
Ten year cost of signed legislation and executive actions by president:
George w Bush: $6.9 trillion
Barack Obama: $5.0 trillion
Donald Trump: $7.8 trillion (in half the time)
Gross. What are libertarians smoking these days?
Since taking office, President Biden has overseen over $11 trillion in spending – more than $1.5 trillion of which has been done unilaterally through various executive actions and rulemaking, marking a clear circumvention of Congress.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidHe should be given a medal for circumventing this do-nothing Congress in order to get stuff done.

Trumps spending was insane. Remember we had a strong economy and no wars back then. No COVID. What's he doing accelerating the expansion of the federal government? Not once proposing a plan to pay for all his lavish handouts. Libertarians should not want anything to do with that.

@wildgrass saidWell, yeah, but a libertarian voting for a Democrat is like a libertarian voting for Mao, and a libertarian voting for a libertarian is like a libertarian not voting it all.

@Sleepyguy saidThis is exactly what leads to the two party seesaw evident in the US, UK, Aus and NZ. The two main parties put on a little song and dance about being in opposition to each other. They're both part of the same machine. And every election we get the panic, this election is different, this election is important, it's this one that counts, we absolutely have to hold our noses and vote against our principles to stop the other fellow i.e. the other side of the same coin.

This election is the same as every other on the two party seesaw, voting which whip to bring down on our backs.
@spruce112358 saidThis is what it's about. There'll never be a libertarian goobermint in our life time, so please stop crying 'waddaboud the roads". What can happen is Libertarian ideals start gaining traction, start gaining support, the two main parties look to where their votes are disappearing to, and the parasite power trippers, clinging to their principles (i.e. be in power, stay in power) they have to start speaking to Libertarians. This is a good thing. It's to have an effect, to try to at least put the brakes on growing goobermint and do it from a principled platform. It's not to have machine guns and meth for sale at gas stations next week, that's next year.

It's funny people on this thread that don't know what Libertarianism is, reminding libertarians that Trump isn't libertarian, the humor that can be had here is why I come back.
@Sleepyguy saidNot if the libs spend less money.

@Wajoma saidCan you explain why Trump's invited to speak at a libertarian convention?

In 1968, the Democratic Party held it's convention in Chicago. All violence, all the time. can't wait! - especially if Israel is still at war

Anyway THIS TIME its different, LOL.
Well probably not, but at least there's a guy in the race that is hated by all the right people. Best case scenario, however unlikely, is that he does some serious damage to the corrupt uniparty blob. If not, he may at least do something about illegal immigration and hopefully get us out of the war business for a few years.
