@no1marauder said"Families and individuals working in low-wage jobs make insufficient income to meet minimum standards given the local cost of living. We developed a living wage calculator to estimate the cost of living in your community or region based on typical expenses. The tool helps individuals, communities, and employers determine a local wage rate that allows residents to meet minimum standards of living."

Joe thinks that someone incurring extra expenses invalidates the whole concept of a "living wage" but that's just his stupidity talking. The idea is to establish a guideline as to what a wage needs to be at a minimum to achieve a tolerable standard of living given local conditions, not to take into account every individual's particular circumstances.

...and the response of the market? Everything goes up thanks to the in flow of helicopter money.
@wajoma saidIF additional wages were just eaten up by higher prices, there would be no increase in real income at all. But that is not consistent with real world data (at least not in the US before neoliberal policies were adopted in the mid 1970s); real wages grew steadily from 1947 to the late 1970s. https://www.bing.com/[WORD TOO LONG]

@no1marauder saidNo1 misrepresent-or likes to ignore reality. Drive around various neighborhoods in for eg LA. Why are some more expensive than others, rents, property, supermarkets, restaurants, clothing.

@no1marauder saidCalling your stats 'real world' does not make them so. Real world is there before your eyes, you don't even need to drive just go on google street view and compare different neighbor hoods, then think about why the rent in burb A is not the same as rent in burb B.
LMAO! Yes, I'm "ignoring reality" by presenting real world, long term economic data.
Edit: BTW "How to Lie with Statistics" by Darrell Huff, written in language even a mis-represent-or would understand.
@wajoma saidIn other words, you don't like what reality is so you invent your own based on your biased, limited perceptions and anecdotes.

You're not alone; a lot of ignorant, uneducated people do the same.
@no1marauder saidHard to deny what's in front of your eyes.

“You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.”

Does no one see THE living wage issue. It is NOT what entails such a wage. The issue is how can a wage be established which suits everyone? It is that simple.
If Marauder and I work on an assembly line, and the employer knows I am a free spirit, no debt, and don’t eat much, but he also knows Marauder has 4 kids and debt, are we both paid the same wage, or does Marauder get more?
@no1marauder saidI'm going to try to dumb this allllll the way down.
Talk about someone who denied reality ................................................................
Do you deny the reality that in some suburbs the rent is ten times that of other suburbs. What is your explanation for this?
Now we look at suburb 'B' where rent is 1/10th of suburb 'A', we fly over suburb 'B' in a helicopter throwing money out the window calling it UBI or living wage or some other catchy name, what do you think happens to the rent in suburb 'B'?

But anyone with the remotest knowledge of economics knows the world isn't as simple as your hypothetical deems it; maybe you should talk to AJ about the guy with all the coconuts.
@averagejoe1 saidYou're servile, so you'd probably fit in well with Rand:
If I could visit with 2 people, it would be Mozart and Ayn Rand.
"While there are considerable differences between the two philosophies, it still didn’t explain why Rand and her followers were so hostile to libertarians. That didn’t become clear until I found out that Ayn Rand had a vindictive streak that made her cut people out of her life over the slightest disagreements. Murray Rothbard was one of those people who would find himself booted out of her circle for daring to show any dissent towards her ideas. She would later show the same vindictiveness towards her partner/lover Nathan Branden when they had a falling out."

It appears continual kissing of her a** was required to stay in her good graces, but a bootlicker like you wouldn't have any problem with that.
@no1marauder saidThere's more to the objectivism versus Libertarianism debate than No1 mis-represent-or's fantasies.
