The cocept to trust someone and stay with that person (or institiion) no matter what.

It is a nice value, but it can be abused or overdone.

Loyalty in a relationship is definitely worth the effort. The relationship may end eventually but at least you will have your self respect and their respect as well.

Loyalty to a political ideal or institution?
I think as we age we change our beliefs, sometimes many times throughout our lives, so you can't fault people for changing or switching sides. Very few people have had the same political beliefs their whole lives.

Loyalty to family?
Overrated and ignorant.

Loyalty no matter what?
No thanks...I'm not going down with the ship.
Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong.
I guess the definition of what is right or wrong would depend on each person.

I agree with almost all of this, but would push back a bit regarding one's family. My immediate family and I didn't agree on most things, but they stepped up and helped me through some hard economic times, this is something most families would do, so I think a bit of loyalty is appropriate in this area.

@mchill

Sure, but I was referring to those that think blood relation is more important than anything.

I find that way of thinking to be primitive and outdated.
I think the connection you have with the person and how much you respect them is more important than blood.

I think he was referring to excesses of Trump. Excesses is a weak word to describe the corruption of Trump and his whole puking family.

Trump goes 'kiss my ring or we are enemies' just like a Mafia boss.
