EDIT: Republicans want them to be state-run, so they can use them to spew lies since that’s how they stay in power. But to date, they hew pretty close to truth. If they were state run, Trump would have made them sing his praises, but they definitely did not. They stayed factual - which annoys the Right because facts contradict their messaging.
