MIAMI (July 18) - A man who had been released from prison early for good behavior was convicted Tuesday of trying to kill a young mother and leaving her 5-year-old daughter to be eaten alive by alligators in the Everglades.
...
She was alive when alligators bit her on the head and stomach, a medical examiner said.

Authorities found the girl's body two days later, her left arm missing and her skull crushed, prosecutors said. Maycock woke up bleeding and disoriented in a cane field miles from her Miami-Dade County home.
...
Braddy had served 13 years of a 30-year prison sentence for attempted murder before being released early for good behavior.

It will never happen because do-gooder ACLU activists will cry real crocodile tears and say that the death penalty is barbaric and inhumane and there are constitutional protections against cruel and unusual punishment.

YES. That would be justice in the truest sense of the word.

The prison system failed him. He was not properly rehabilitated before is release. This incidence is hardly his fault. We all know that Bush is not looking into the nations prison problems and this is what happens. Bush should be impeached over this young girls death NOT this poor man, who is the true victim.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Singleton

"Lawrence Singleton (July 28, 1927 - December 28, 2001) was an American criminal.

He first gained notoriety in the late 1970s when he was arrested and convicted of raping and mutilating 15 year old Mary Vincent of Las Vegas. He picked her up hitchhiking in Berkeley, California in 1978, raped her, and then hacked off her arms with an axe, dumping her in a remote ditch outside of Modesto, California. She survived to testify against him at his trial.

Along with the particularly gruesome and callous aspects of the crime, the case became even more notorious after Singleton was paroled after serving only eight years in prison.

He returned to his native Florida, where he was later convicted of murdering a prostitute in 1997.

He died in prison of cancer."

well, i guess they figured after 8 years he had served his debt to society.

problem was, his debt wasn't to society, it was to Mary Vincent.

No, his debt was to society and society's debt was to Mary Vincent.

Crimes this barbaric are the product of a diseased mind, acting in
a society that is unable or unwilling to recognise the symptoms.

If this was his first similar attack then it should be treated as psychosis,
I expect it was not though and the warning signs were ignored or set
in a social context where they were not treatable.

What is more likely is that Bush is freeing up some jail space to
generate some more cash for his war.
He's probably busying himself shaving some off of any state run
psychiatric establishments too...

his debt was to mary vincent, but various entities who depend on the legal system as it is have ensured that they have claimed that debt for themselves. but, ah well, i guess it was only a prostitute he went on to murder.

as for bush, see if you can find any date or locale in Singleton's wiki entry that shows any relevant connection at all between Singleton, Bush, and the Iraq war.

His debt was to every woman, man and beast he could or would have
killed or mutilated, in short, society.

I'm not going to waste time drawing a link between lack of funding for
prison rehabilitation and the rate of re-offending incidents.
My comments for GB are just as relevent for TB. Britain is already entertaining
the idea of early release systems to help ease over-stocked prisons.

The legal system is put in place to deal with offences once commited.
Social systems are put in place to stop the crime before it happens.

So tell me, do you believe it was the legal or social system that let
Mary Vincent down?

Look. It wasn't his fault. He only gave the gators the opportunity. You can't say he knew what was going to happen.

I think we should drop him off in the everglades and sit around and watch, and yell at him each time he surfaces, remember that little girl?
