Strange, and very sad, that a teddy bear called Muhammed provokes more discussion than the latest home grown scumbag with his right to bear arms, who actually cost four people their lives....

He might even be considered a religious terrorist.

I suspect it was bigger news in the US, where it happened rather than the UK.

There's not too much to discuss about it other than perhaps the US's gun policy.

The location didn't stop the anti-muslim mobs over there jumping up and down for the events that occurred in Sudan to a British woman....

He was unhappy about being fired and had some weird personal grudges, hardly a religious terrorist.

True, but then the teddy incident followed on from a number of other incidents such as the danish cartoons etc. and involving shariah law can be seen as another example of the "clash of civilisations" which is often discussed between the west and Islam. This incidence, although unfortunately not unique involved one person with a hatred of Christianity (according to the BBC) and a gun.

I mentioned the location, as the reason why there is no debate in the UK media.

As for gun laws, I am glad that we have stricter gun control over here, which reduces the chances of this happening. I am always amazed that people can think that more guns= greater safety!

You're right. He hated Christians, apparently. So what kind of religious terrorist do we call him?

Just think how safe you'd be in Joe Horn's neighbourhood!

Even if you just lose your house keys, he will take you down!

Hooray for Joe Horn. Some jerk named Quannel X tried to stage a protest demonstration in front of his home and was quickly surrounded by counter-demonstrators supporting Mr. Horn. The news videos show some very worried looking people timidly taking their leave when a hostile crowd booed them away. About time.

I think its a more so that case that anti-Islamic feelings are stronger in the media, hence if the guy had been a muslim and started killing I guess that would provoke more debate, but I do agree "clash of C" does play a part

Their have been a number off recent cases recently where people have "lost the plot" and starting killing innconts across the world, if anything this event shows that nutter are all over the world.

Gun control is good, but all it means is that criminals mover to knives instead, maybe we should have Big Bro state insted with chips imbeded....

No, it means that only criminals will have guns. I hardly think they'll start using knives because guns are illegal and they don't want to break the law.

LOL, you hard-liners are pretty funny sometimes.

I wish that every person who touts Horn as a hero gets called by police, informing them that their son/daughter has just been killed by some trigger happy shop owner, because the guy suspected they were shoplifting.

You just completely changed the facts with a ridiculous hypothetical situation that has nothing to do with anything. The people Horn killed had lengthy violent criminal records, I hope you run into their type some day so you can persuade them with your superior reasoning skills. Let us know how that works out.

typically there is greater interest in a given country in news that either happens locally, or involves someone from that country.

No I didn't, I sketched pretty much the same scenario.

Did Horn have their rap-sheets in front him with a clear line of sight so that he could absolutely positively identify them?
Not? Aaah, I didn't think so.

I'm not disputing the fact that the 2 guys were unsavoury characters, but some half-blind, crazy elderly citizen with a shotgun should never be allowed to play judge, jury and executioner. No-one should for that matter.
The hypothetical shop owner leveling a gun to your kids' head should also not be allowed to make any assumptions, the same as anyone else...

What he did was murder 2 people he SUSPECTED of breaking into his neighbour's house.
He's a trigger-happy vigilante who should get the death penalty for a double homicide.
