I agree with that.
Communism will eventually burn itself out. It lived all those years based on starting with an intact infrastructure.
All the Soviets had to do was maintain that infrastructure, but they invested little in doing just that.
It's a job that independent businessmen would have done in order to survive.
So, it was just a question of time for the Soviets, really, just as it is in Cuba and North Korea.
Russia was stuck in the year 1800 going into the 20th century. Right up until the October Revolution illiteracy was the norm. The Soviets, for all their flaws, achieved nearly 100 percent literacy within a generation, built a heavy industry infrastructure from scratch, brought electricity to every city and nearly every building, constructed a rail system, and developed a renowned space program. And so on.
Well, anyway, pick up a history book and read all about it.

I have a friend from Russia. He is a physicist and works for MIT. He has parties and a lot of Russian people now living in the area come to. Many are noted scientists
So one night we were just talking... and one such Russian talked about the Pittsburgh airport. (this was in the 90's) so I chimed in with - "Oh, Pittsburgh, the new airport". The man bristled and shot right back - "In America, all airports are new". His friends simply nodded in the affirmative.

Todays Democrats. The party's began to switch with JFK, and when Democratic President Johnson signed the civil rights act, and the voting rights act in 1964 and 1965. By Regan, the switch was complete.
That's why all the confederate slave states vote Republican today. Never happened until then. DoH! lol...
