I thought pilots were supposed to eject from a jet because it was in danger of crashing. And why would it be on auto pilot if it was in danger of crashing? If a jet is not flying right aren't pilots supposed to take manual control before ejecting?
What if it was stolen and is safe and sound some place?
@sonhouse saidStop being stupid
@Metal-Brain
Well OBVIOUSLY it was taken over by Aliens studying our technology.
Pilot said it was a mishap. No explanation what that mishap was. Maybe the idiot spilled coffee on himself and accidentally ejected himself out of the most expensive stealth fighter the US has while on autopilot. I'm kidding, but it must have been something really embarrassing if they will not say.

@metal-brain saidIran snatched one of our drones. Maybe they got this too?

It's so stealth our own military can't find it.
I heard they were down in the carolinas asking for anonymous tips using a hotline. 1800-FIND-JET. The most advanced military in the world.
@wildgrass saidI guess now they've found the wreckage we'll need to take our speculation in a whole new direction, like who shot it down?

@kewpie saidProbably just ran out of fuel or the auto pilot turned up for work drunk and pranged the plane into a cloud with a mothership hiding out inside.

The possibilities are endless
@metal-brain saidYou said that before they found it. What's changed?

@metal-brain saidGoogle ‘stealth’ 🙄 and apparently this one was extra stealthy after modification

@Earl-of-Trumps
I was wondering if he would be getting a court martial. It depends on what went wrong with the plane. Maybe he had a problem that would have stopped him from landing. But they may say he should have tried to ditch the plane in a field or some such. Bottom line is we can't pass judgement, that is up to the military. We don't know much of any of the facts behind the mishap. For instance, we don't know what communications he had before he jumped, he may have been TOLD to jump, but we don't know.
@sonhouse saidCould have been a malfunction due to manufacturer error or improper maintainance. Not necessarily the pilots fault.

It is in the "strong rumor" stage but they are now hinting at the craft having been hacked.

You're right, I spoke too quickly.
When I saw that the plane did not crash right away, I thought that the pilot's bail-out was wrongful. we'll see.
