Well, first off - 'blacks invading LA' ain't the problem. They have maybe moved around, but hey it's a free country (sort of.) 😆

Whites (read: rich) flight has occurred, probably to the surrounding counties of Kern, Orange, San Bernadino, and Ventura. A massive freeway system ensures that rich people can ZOOM! from the suburbs all the way into downtown, slicing through historic neighborhoods and killing them and then ZOOM! back out again, getting all the benefits of urban vitality without having to pay for it. 😆

Was that you, @Cliff-Mashburn? ZOOMING in from Irvine and then ZOOMING back out again? Or had you fukked off by then? 😆

People (esp. rich people) do not accept that the purpose of government is to protect all our rights equally.

Read that again VERY carefully. 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers...' etc.

Rich people sometimes think that people's rights should be protected IN PROPORTION to how much they and their close neighbors can PAY.

This is untrue.
That's not what the US Constitution guarantees. Nor the CA Constitution. Nor the LA County or City Charter. NO WHERE in ANY of our societal agreements is it suggested that our rights are protected in proportion to what we can pay.

That's what makes America great. That's WHY America is great.

The problem in Inglewood is that people's rights are violated on a daily basis because the city doesn't have enough tax revenue to adequately protect people's rights.

But when Inglewood people go to the county (of which they are residents) the county tells the people 'talk to your city; not our problem; fuuk off.'
Then when Inglewood people go to the state (of which they are citizens), the state tells them 'talk to your county; not our problem; fuuk off'.
Then when Inglewood people go finally to the US government (which is supposed to protect all citizen's rights equally), the US gummint tells them 'talk to your local gummint; not our problem; fuuk off.'

That's the problem. Explained. 😆

Inglewood was was a city for almost 100 years with the same root-causes you claim exist, didn't have any problems....why did it all go to hell in the 1980's?

The way things are set things up, certain individual rights are protected only by LOCAL money.

If (for whatever reason) that local money leaves (qv. Inglewood in the 1980's), rights can no longer protected because rights protection costs money.

Higher levels of gummint don't feel responsible to step in to protect rights - as they certainly should. Rights are rights and everyone has the same rights equally everywhere. 😆
