Is Michael Moore the Leni Riefenstahl of socialism?

this site is quite funny. i am sure that these guys could find Mahatma Ghandi or Mother Theresa flaws. They say moore takes stuff out of context. Hmm i wonder how much facts did they leave out when they criticize moore. I am not saying that moore is god. I am not saying that gore is God, but for heaven's sake just listen to what they have to say. So what if they are hypocrites? Does their message suffer because of that or because of lack of facts? Moore states that the american health system is horrible. Do you disagree with this because moore said it or because you thought about it and thought that it really is peachy.
Extracts from his movie🙁which i am sure most of you who scream at moore didn't see it)
-One person has a car accident. She is taken to the hospital by ambulance. After that she is announced that the insurance won't pay for the trip because she didn't approve it. After that, this person wonders how could she approve it when she was unconscious in the back of the ambulance.
-60000 dollars to attach a finger? Are you fuc*kin kidding me? if my left arm and not just my finger got slashed off i would ask them if i can offer them 50 dollars to have it encased in glass and take it home as a souvenir. or ask how much for the captain hook's hook.
Originally posted by ZahlanziI disagree with it because there is no pretense for the the film being objective -- Moore compares the worst of our system with the best of the British, Canadian, French and Cuban systems. Meanwhile, Moore ignores the fact that America's greater commitment to market-driven medical innovation makes miracles possible for patients with the most deadly and rare diseases.

In fact, America's commitment to the treatment of patients with rare diseases is unmatched, according to Paul Howard of the Manhattan Institute:
oThe Orphan Drug Act, ("orphan" drugs as those that treat diseases affecting fewer than 200,000 patients annually) gives companies tax incentives and seven years of market exclusivity in return for developing treatments for rare diseases.
oAccording to the Food and Drug Administration, in the decade before the act passed there were fewer than 10 products approved for orphan diseases; today, there are over 300.
Further, patients with rare diseases aren't the only ones seeing improvements in treatment:
oU.S. cancer mortality rates have declined every year since 1991, an unmatched achievement in the developed world.
oFive year survival rates for breast cancer, if detected early, are over 95 percent.
oIn January 2007, the American Cancer Society reported that total cancer deaths in the United States declined for the second straight year, despite an aging population that is at higher risk for cancer.
Moore is right that American health care is in need of reform, says Howard. But any reforms must maintain market incentives for medical innovation, and we shouldn't accept policies that will inevitably result in rationing health care for the sickest and most vulnerable patients.

You people are all idiots. Moore's films are not intended to be "objective" documentaries (whatever that means). They're polemics. He's advocating a specific position and he tries to frame that position in the best possible light. Of course this is no problem when flaming right wing loonies like Rush Limbaugh, or Bill O'Reilly do the same thing, but a left winger does it then everyone wrings their hands and exclaims, "Oh, heavens to Betsy, he's not being objective." Give it a rest. Even if Moore was the most even handed guy around you'd still find reason to knock him.

are Moore supporters who favor left wing causes and demonize those
who are right wing, and the same goes for the those that are right
wing who do the same to the left. I thought it amusing that you said
Moore went after the flaming right wing loonies as if that justifies
Moore. I guess when a right winger says flaming left wingers it
justifies what they say too. When ever anyone has get very selective
in their attacks and their facts to make themselves look good or
someone else look bad, it is propaganda not reality that is being
delivered in their documentaries or radio/TV show.

Moreover, Moore has proven time and time again that he is anything but evenhanded in the treatment of his subject matter. In fact, I'd say his films (note that I didn't use the misnomer "documentary"😉 are at best hamfisted examples of agitprop.

Michael Moore is 5'11" and weighs 300 pounds. He is a fat ugly self-indulgent piece of garbage that couldn't walk a quarter of a mile without getting sweaty and panting for breath.
Originally posted by rwingetttry not to get subjective and lose your reason. in a debate one has to focus on the facts. If you don't, then you might miss some of the booboo's Moore makes.

i certainly like moore a lot. but that doesn't mean i am oblivious to the fact that he manipulates the public, distorts and exaggerates the truth and presents mostly his side of the matter. That being said, it is imperative to remain objective so as to take what is good from moore's films, skip the bad part and form your own opinion not adopt his as is.
