This gets interesting right around 1:02:37. I would skip the first hour which is slightly interesting from a history standpoint, but doesn't really inform today's politics.
Discussion by an intellectual 'rightist' (a rare creature!) about How the Left Lost:
- Not understanding that as a 'coalition' and not 'consensus' party, they couldn't be disparaging of so many groups, e.g. whites/men/Christians/straights.
- Not understanding that blacks no longer all live in the projects.
- Not understanding that Hispanics were not mostly on welfare and would resent getting taxed to pay people high salaries 'to be administrators.'
- Getting a huge concentration of lawyers (i.e. more regulation) and professors (i.e. more ideological purity) at the top of the party and letting them lead for too long. Too much elitism, not enough WWE and Maury Povich.
- Really interesting: Democrats used to be for tariffs and low immigration to protect workers and jobs. But Republicans (the party of Free Trade?) took those positions away from the Democrats COMPLETELY! Completely. Now Republicans are all about protecting American workers jobs and are totally AGAINST free trade! Wow. So one of the pundits says, 'What do the Dems have left?' It's a very good question.
@spruce112358 saidOne thing he didn't mention, the fact without the antiquated electoral college Harris WOULD have won, she won the popular vote.

So maybe dems are not as bad off as they think.
With all the abject cruelty going on with this 'beautiful bill' They will turn off some REPUBLICANS as well as give marching orders to nearly all democrats.
The post that was quoted here has been removedThere wasn't any "mess" under the Biden Administration. 😆
The test is really, "Do I think about intrusive government affecting my daily life and stopping me from living in freedom and liberty?
Biden: No. We barely thought about government because it just did competent stuff without fanfare. In fact, that was part of the problem - no advertising.
Trump: Yes. Every single day, the government is in the news doing something crazy or illegal.
That's not "small government." That's Large, Instrusive Government brought to you (without apology) by the authoritarian MAGA party. Actual conservatives are horrified and have left in disgust. 😆
The post that was quoted here has been removedThe identity politics was certainly a big mistake for the Dems, and I think it is being purged. Nobody talks about trans or pronouns anymore. Nobody EVER liked the whole trans thing. Talking about race is more or less of a joke. 😆
Jilting men and the white working class, though, was a HUGE mistake with far-reaching consequences. Dems were clueless that white women won't vote for a party that seems to hate their husbands and sons.
Honestly - I don't see Dems coming back unless Repubs make a mistake with the economy. And they seem to be doing their level best to fuuk that up. We will see if they succeed. 😆
@sonhouse saidWould Kamala be standing up to Xi like Trump is today? And he will win. Would Kamala win? Xi would counter her cackling nonsense with a metaphorical punch in the face.

You know it, we all know it.
All this assumes that she would be acting on plans to make us great again! 😆
While I have you, looks like I have yet again highlighted facts that end up in the news, to wit....The Vile Jill is being investigated for cover up, and, I assume, for propping him up so she could remain first lady with a plane???
Lord to you fellers have a long row to hoe.

The question should be, would Kamala have destroyed the lives of so many people? Would she have made everything, everywhere, all about her? Would she have lied to the American people as much as Trump? Would she have invited Gozer Musk, the Destroyer, into the White House? Would world leaders hate her the way they hate Trump? Would America still be respected in the world?
And you seriously need to leave Jill alone.
@sonhouse saidSonhouse says here that Kamala Harris, the dem nominee for president...you know, the most silly person in government.....he says that she won the popular vote. Please see it excerpted just below.
One thing he didn't mention, the fact without the antiquated electoral college Harris WOULD have won, she won the popular vote.
This says otherwise:
""Trump won the national popular vote with a plurality of 49.8%, making him the first Republican to win the popular vote since George W. Bush in 2004. Trump became the first president since Grover Cleveland in 1892 to be elected to a non-consecutive second term and the first Republican to do so.""
Point is, regardless the above fib, this stuff is what bogs down the long-suffering posts of Sonhouse. Did anyone continue with his post when you read this line?
Geez, sonhouse, go take that nap.
@AverageJoe1 saidDid you even notice that that said "plurality", and NOT "majority"?

@Suzianne saidWe know you subscribe to all that, don't be a sonhouse. How bout instead, tell us what Kamala would be doing right now? FOR the American people. The ones who work. Not the losers on entitlements. You can do this... Rise up!!
