so you think vaccines stop the spread?

what is your point?

and you hedged on my question…do his superiors not have a right to look into it?
Look into it? Sure. Anyone has the right to look into anything. Suspend a health official for encouraging vaccination? It's wrong. Morally, legally and practically.

Whether you think he's right or wrong is immaterial. If California suspended a health official for saying you shouldn't get your teen vaxxed due to myocarditis, you'd be outraged. Sauce for the goose...

you overlook the employer/employee concept involved here. Coercion is illegal.

What do you think he was trying to do? He was belittling his employees.

And it really doesnt matter how you feel about the suspension, it is legal and quite normal in instances such as this.

What "coercion"? If he'd written (okay, not relevant on Florida) "It's 10 degrees outside and half of you aren't wearing coats and gloves. Pathetic! You're going to get yourselves sick, and make other people sick, you fools. Wake up and dress for the weather!"

Would you advocate suspending him?

an employer doesnt have a right to badger his employees to do things unrelated to their jobs. There are laws against it.

And I noticed you hedged on if vaccines prevent the spread.

They don't "prevent" the spread, but they slow it somewhat.

Anyway, as I said, this is not about whether he is right or wrong. If you think it is, we have very different views on the concept of free speech.

He works for the State and the State took action against him.

It absolutely is a free speech issue.

so as a employee supervisor you think he has freedom of speech to say anything he wants to to those under his control?

you are getting a little rediculous

The director of Orange County Florida's Department of Health has been placed on administrative leave for the unpardonable sin of encouraging the employees of the Department to get vaccinated against COVID.

Having problems with the link, but this is an actual thing not an Onion article.
How many thousands of people have been put on permanent leave for the unpardonable sin of not bowing to your god, the state. Healthy, fit, experienced people, including healthcare workers at a time when supposedly our health is most a risk.

Obviously you'd like to fire fit healthy people?

You're suffering from some kind of psychosis.

A health care worker who refuses to get vaccinated against a deadly contagious disease during a pandemic should be treated the same as one who refuses to wear a mask and gloves in an operating room. They are both knowingly endangering the health and safety of the people reliant on them for care and that is ample grounds for termination.

A fit healthy person is no danger to you.
