Many of the other things you claim he deliberately did not say during the campaign because he knows most of the People oppose like freeing those who violently attacked police on January 6th, 2021. And I don't recall any campaign promise of his to fire any and everybody who took part in investigations of his criminal activities.
And not a single one of these things gives any power to the People over the government as you well know. Instead, he blunders about making illegal executive orders, some of which have already been quickly squashed by the courts, without even an attempt to propose legislation even though his party is in control of both Houses of Congress.

I don't dispute that we need and want people to come in (in a controlled, sensible and legal way). Trump himself has confirmed this endlessly. I also do not dispute that there could be big economic upheaval stemming from breaking America's addiction to illegal immigrant labor cold turkey. But I think the people want it done, whatever it takes.
