Musk Now Controls the US Checkbook

Why bother? Those conversations invariably begin and end with the "racist" accusation. We've been trying to get the US government to get control of illegal immigration since Bush Jr was trying to ram mass amnesty down our throats. NOW you want to know why? Gimme a break.

I don't dispute that we need and want people to come in (in a controlled, sensible and legal way). T ...[text shortened]... tion to illegal immigrant labor cold turkey. But I think the people want it done, whatever it takes.
Well let's see. Besides the rather obvious historical fact that much of the opposition to immigration to the US was based on bigoted grounds (Irish, Italians, Chinese and others faced this type of prejudice which you would know if you ever bothered to crack a history book - well they'll probably be rewritten now to not be so "woke"😉 the present architect of the opposition to immigration as complained about migrants coming from "s**thole countries" and falsely accused Haitians legally in this country of eating their neighbors' pets. It does kinda make you think that the issue might not be so prominent if the undocumented immigrant population was primarily composed of Norwegians and Swiss rather than refugees from Mexico, Central America and various "Third World" countries.

And Trump's policies target immigration in general, not merely illegal immigration. He's vowed to end chain immigration and has illegally placed a freeze on any asylum claims using a bogus emergency declaration regarding a problem that you admit has existed for decades.

And no, the People don't support these extreme measures. Sure, the vast majority want criminals deported but when asked the question "Most undocumented immigrants in the U.S. should be A) Offered chance at legal status or B) Deported - 56% of voters in the 2024 said the former and only 40% the latter. https://www.cnn.com/election/2024/exit-polls/national-results/general/president/0

So a fairly substantial majority aren't supportive of the economic chaos you and Trump want to unleash in order to drive mostly hardworking families from our nation.

The US has funded many "terrorists" - some of whom won their struggles and became "fathers of their country": Ho Chi Minh, Suharto, Somoza, the Shah of Iran, Duvalier, Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Pinochet AND Netanyahu at various points. 😆

We fund everybody it seems.
That is true. The reason Trump shut down USAID is because it is a big regime change funding scam.

Let's say Musk had full control of all federal spending (which he obviously doesn't).

Are you saying he'd do a worse job than the buffoons currently in charge?

It would be great if we had a CEO-type like Musk to actually balance the budget.

Alas, we don't.
"The US Agency for International Development (USAID) is a “criminal organization” that financed bioweapon research, including projects that allegedly led to the emergence of Covid-19, according to Trump-ally Elon Musk."

Defense spending is untouchable.

Entitlement spending is untouchable.

That leaves a very small piece of discretionary spending, which has budgets already scrutinized to every nail. Cuts will be very minor in a larger sense of the budget, but if they happen would be devastating for large industries like biomedical research and energy.

I predict it won't happen. This administration will be unsuccessful at cutting down budget deficits.
