Just a go-to for reference. It still is not enough to pay off loans of poor-planning college students. I know of a ‘poor planning’ woman with five children living in the ninth ward in New Orleans, that sure would like to get some help for herself.

And here the USAID employees wrote things such as ‘ we are abandoning the world.”
Now hold on here was that statement to tug at someone’s heart strings? To abandon something means that you were responsible for something and left it. So, is someone here going to tell us that we had an obligation or a duty to be responsible for the world? I am just asking here, y’all are much more well-versed in GLOBAL charity than I am.

USAID workers send message to Trump on boxes while

It is a new story with this title, I could not make it load up

It's a shame Musk hasn't found any waste yet. 😆

You would think by now he would have found SOMETHING! 😆

You and Marauder….I Want It Now!!!!

The government is a big place, with a lot of in and out that have to be tied together. They only have six assistants working on it, they probably would hire 20 assistants if their budget could cover that many people. Don’t you see, they don’t wanna go over budget like the United States has.

Hey, did you not see where they found $2 billion that that fat Georgia woman was in control of for some green deal? I sent a link on that because I know you all like links and don’t trust what anybody says that is inconvenient for you.. would you like for me to send it to you again?

Musk has found things Congress voted to spend money on. 😆

Just like Congress gave Biden the authority to forgive certain student loans.

But no waste so far. I guess Musk will keep looking. 😆

Yes, he'll keep looking.

Musk’s DOGE says it has saved $55 billion. Not so fast.

A Washington Post analysis found that hundreds of the canceled contracts DOGE listed represent savings of $0 each.

Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service claimed this week to have saved an estimated $55 billion through a combination of layoffs, canceled contracts, lease renegotiations and other actions. But a list that it posted of contracts and leases suggests that number is inflated.

A Washington Post analysis of the contract data found that many of the canceled contracts were already complete, meaning canceling them didn’t yield any money back because they had been fully paid out — and indeed, 417 of the deals on DOGE’s list indicate that they saved $0. Another 51 added up to savings of just under $1 million.

The DOGE website has made several modifications to the data since it went live earlier this week, wiping nearly $9.3 billion from its originally listed savings.

The largest one addressed the cost of a terminated service-disabled veteran-owned management consultant contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Earlier versions of the contract in the FPDS database listed $8 billion, but the most recent version of the contract listed $8 million, which was earlier reported by the New York Times. The DOGE site listed initially the higher, older version of the number. DOGE said in a post on X that it has “always used the correct $8M in its calculations.”

The article goes on at some length with details and receipts.

If Musk wants to find fraud and waste, he need only look in a mirror.

I guess Musk is trying to "scare up" some waste. 😆

Well, maybe he will succeed. Time will tell.

I think he thought he found some waste there at one point, but it turned out Congress appropriated that money for a reason. So he has to keep on looking.

Biden ran a pretty tight ship, apparently. The Federal government has been stable in size for many years, even though the population has grown by 68 million? This is what I read anyway.

Hard to find waste when things are that efficient! 😆

Yes, the size of the federal workforce as a percentage of the population has been actually declining for the past quarter of a century at least.

You’ve made two good points. First, it is not realistic to think that Trump could actually accomplish every morsel of things that he said he was going to do. It would be impossible for anyone, but very natural for a strong politician, as he was during the campaign, to tell everyone his intent in that way.
So, you apply one of Trump‘s catch phrases. He says time will tell, or he will say let’s wait and see. There is a bit of waiting going on, although marauder wants everything to happen right now. Childlike in my opinion.

Then Musk is indeed scaring up all he can, turning over stones. Do you not think that this is a great endeavor?

You need to reply to @Soothfast, above. 😆

The size of the Federal workforce has been declining for the last 25 years, based on the population. Government has been shrinking, even as there are more people who need services like justice.

This suggests that there will not be much "waste" to be found in government because when you have to do the same or a larger job with fewer people, you have to get efficient - there is no other choice. 😆

Exactly right . The types of spending that musk targeted are extremely tight already. Maybe you can find a few areas that make a good Breitbart headline but don't do any justice to government spending due to its sheer size.

Medicare, military, tax fraud. There's the jackpot. Musk ignores it. This tells you he doesn't care about cutting spending.
