Speeling - or the lack thereof - is dreadfully important.

I guess since so many think they have the right to be happy,
as in the pursuit of happiness. That is all it takes for some
to think they have a constitutional right to get whatever makes
them happy. The little part about pursuit of happiness is really
all we have, not the right to be happy.

A 'right' is the soveriegnty to act without the permission of others.

A right is such that if violated, the violated has a legitimate claim against another entity. A privilege does not have this property.

In California your horse likely has the right to be Governor...

... and if it lived in Washington, and wasn't foreign-born! Well....

If God gave us rights, no man should attempt to take them
away. If man gave them to you, than man can take them
away. If it is all just man, you really don't have anything but
the good will of those incharge at this time. All rights you think
you have are but ideals of good guys long ago dead.

For the sake of argument, let's pretend that all agree that
God does not exist.

Why would you feel (given the above assumption) that entities
wouldn't have intrinsic and inalienable rights? That is, why do
you disbelieve that beings have rights that are not conferred by
humankind (and therefore not removable).
