President Donald Trump threatened Monday to pull the Republican National Convention out of North Carolina if state officials don’t roll out the red carpet soon. On Tuesday, those officials put the onus on national Republicans to prove they can pull off a 50,000-person event safely - or else!
In a letter to Marcia Kelly, the president and CEO of the convention NC responded: "The status of Covid-19 infections in our state and in the Charlotte area continues to rapidly evolve, it will be important to have several scenarios planned that can be deployed depending on the public health situation"
It seems Trump's threats of holding the Republican convention elsewhere are wearing thin in North Carolina, where health officials are wrestling with rising cases and deaths from COVID 19. Moving a convention this late in an election year would be a massive logistical headache for GOP organizers - all to make little Donnie happy.
He never spares a thought for anyone but himself.
