I don't agree with the ultimate conclusion because Teri's husband has abandoned her and the damaged child SHOULD belong to the mother.

That he (Michael) is holding out for the insurance money is just "wrong". He has systematically "denied" the right for any doctor to do a brain exam in the past 10 years. What is the harm of doing an examination? Yet he refuses to allow it.

Teri doesn't care. He has no way of even thinking about her being alive or dead. He is shacked up and has kids with his "new" wife. He could have divorced Teri and married his new woman. I wonder why he chose not to? The husband does this because he bought the big insurance policy on Teri in the hopes of being rich. But the mother of Teri cares. She gave Teri life. A life that got cut way short.

Let the mother have the child back. Money isn't important.
