Certainly one of the most hyped-up men on the planet, together with Gandhi.

What's wrong with Mandela holding hands and singing"KILL ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE"?
You tell me. Maybe if George Bush and Tony Blair went out on the White House lawn and sang "KILL ALL THE BLACK PEOPLE" with their staff you'd get the picture.

Those are songs of a bygone era, where "amabhulu" meant not all whites but the apartheid regime.

Nowadays, apparently this word is used to describe white people and is considered by many to be a racial slur. Such as the word "negro" has passed on from being a standard word to a racial slur in some countries. This is because that word was a reminder of an era of oppression, society tends to progressively marginalize it as a slur.

It had nothing to do with racism and you can see this from the fact that there are some white people also singing it.

But you have to give him credit for his policy of reconciliation. I, for one, thought he was possibly the worst choice of President the new South Africa could have chosen but he proved to be a lot more sensible than most.

People must have short memories then ..... that 8.8% that don't must be Zulus as I recollect, he didn't have much use for them and vice versa.

In the 1930's, most Russians had a positive opinion of Uncle Joe Stalin
when polled ... and boy was he a real prince of a guy. :-)

Is it Stalin's birthday too?

I like Mandela! He's got a face I could trust.

What about now, what's their opinion of Stalin?

Mandela isn't the President anymore.

His past sins follow him..... enough said.... What does Winnie think of him these days.....

As for Russians opinions of Stalin today... they see him for the barbarian that he was....

Hopefully furute history will reveal Nelson and Bishop Tutu for what they were....
