Fox News says that citations were "misattributed". That could just mean Gay didn't cite them correctly, not necessarily that she tried to pass them off as her own work. If she tried to make the writings of others as her own that would be a completely different and much more serious matter.

But given that most Fox News viewers are uneducated, just having a sensational title is enough. Right-wingers can't don't get nuance.
