Average temps for that day are 37 Degrees F (about 3 C) and a lot of fuss was made about that. But, because of global warming, I'd say average temps should be up to about 60 by that time.

Is there a debate here or is it just an excuse for a bad global warming joke?

The latter; though I posit that the joke was at least mediocre and can't really be fairly characterized as "bad."

I guess I respectfully disagree. I thought I was being generous by categorizing it as bad. 🙂

Can't they just heat up the arena, or would that cause too many emissions?

It's an outdoor stadium. How would you heat it?

The NFL plays football in the cold all the time (in places far colder than the New York metropolitan area). The weather just isn't a big deal at all.

The same way you would heat an indoor stadium, only less efficiently.

Maybe they can heat up the arena with the spectators' emissions.

Building a heating system into an outdoor stadium is like installing screen doors on a submarine.
