Originally posted by blindcheesecakeMy first impression was not a good one. with the blue line moved back and the two line pass rule hacked players are so spread out that checking does not even occur. Sure they score more but it takes away some of the effort and reward of a goal. I liked the dump chase slam play the puck infront of the net and hope the goalie or defender can make a good save. I am a big fan of the big hit but it is still too early to tell how the rule change went. I just glad hockey is back and I can watch something besides baseball. I am also trying to catch up on all the changes each team wnet through. Players are so shifted around and I have not seen it been played since a year ago. I am trying to catch up on the management aspect of it. But my first impression of the rules was not good but not too bad
now that you have seen the new rules in action do you think it was a good idea?
I personaly like it, make the games faster paced.

The worst thing that ever happened to the NHL (lockout notwithstanding) was the New Jersey Devils winning the cup in '95 with the 'Neutral Zone Trap'. It ushered in the most boring brand of hockey I could have imagined. Having grown up on Kurri, Gretzky and Messier flying around the rink in Edmonton, hockey should be about skilled players, to hell with the clutch and grab routine.

I like the icing rule about not able to change your lines.. that will stop all the icings..
50 yrs as a Red Wing fan tell me .. it's interesting, but it's just not NHL hockey IMO.
The handwriting was on the wall the day they made the "Gretzky rules."
You can throw out the record books right now .. none of those names will be their in 10-20 yrs.
Here's a thought ... maybe they could wear skirts instead of those huge shorts .. i'd be more suited to the way the game is played nowadays
Originally posted by jammerYeah, I watched the Leafs/Canadians game right now, what a joke of a game that was. Yeah, the flurries of goals being given out like free i-pods was nice and it's nice the little (the smaller you are, the harder you are to hit on this open ice) speedy team won (no, actually it wasn't) That wasn't hockey, more like a heartless pagent! I couldn't get excited over the game, the only thing the game had a lot of was wild out of flow goals, other then that the game lacked everything good in hockey, snoozefest. 😴😴😴

Whoever wins the cup this year, doesn't deserve it. This is going to kill hockey, it will be remembered as the year of the strike, followed by the year they took away earning the cup. Blows! 😴😴😴
