Unlike the rest of the World , the US provides little more than crumbs for its' citizens during the greatest health crisis in a century .
Even many Progressives have ceased fighting for the American people . They act as if there is actually something more important
than dealing with this pandemic . With a daily death toll greater than 9/11 in the US all we hear are crickets here in the US .
Progressives refuse to call out their own leaders for not doing what needs to be done . Progressives need to stop treating AOC and even Bernie Sanders like Sacred Cows and call them out .
I would love to see the list of things that are more important at this time than healthcare during the worst pandemic in a century .
We need REAL Progressive leadership , not the feckless display we are now seeing .
@caissad4 saidIt's damned tough to pass laws to protect the People, when individual Republicans like McConnell can hold up progress single-handedly.

@suzianne saidThis is NOT just a "Republican Problem " . Even Biden has publicly stated that he would veto Medicare for All even if it would be brought to his desk .

@lemondrop saidBoth the DNC and the RNC are adamantly opposed to Medicare for All . Only the American people support it to the tune of over 70% . Therein lies the problem .
there is a lot of power wielded by the senate majority leader
when the dems get control of the senate will the new majority leader act the same?
absolutely
350 million people sure is a lot 🤔
All of them at the same time can get "free" healthcare just because taxes get raised?...no that isn't possible.
They would have to spend the next 10 years building hospitals and clinics to be able to cover the MASSIVE influx of people going to the doctor for every sniffle and sore knee.
That's 10 years of building before they start any universal healthcare...
Are the people willing to pay higher...a lot higher taxes for 10 years before universal healthcare can start?
No I doubt it.
Y'all got too many people! It's easier for smaller countries with less population. JMO 😉
The post that was quoted here has been removed"Moderate" Democratic politicians do support universal health care. Here's from this year's Democratic Platform:
"We are going to at last build the health care system the American people have always deserved: one that finally provides universal health care coverage; reduces prescription drug prices, premiums, and out-of-pocket costs; reins in overall health care expenses; and tackles the deep-seated inequities in our health care system."
https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/achieving-universal-affordable-quality-health-care/
There is disagreement to how to get there. Public support for Medicare for All is soft and most who say they support it also want the option to keep their private insurance (presumably at public cost):
"KFF polling also shows many people falsely assume they would be able to keep their current health insurance under a single-payer plan, suggesting another potential area for decreased support especially since most supporters (67 percent) of such a proposal think they would be able to keep their current health insurance coverage (Figure 11)."
https://www.kff.org/slideshow/public-opinion-on-single-payer-national-health-plans-and-expanding-access-to-medicare-coverage/
It's clear that there is more work convincing the public if the Left is committed to a single payer system without private insurance.
@cheesemaster saidGo read the Yale study before you pontificate old , tired and wrong talking points .

Medicare for All will save over $400 billion a year in healthcare costs .
@cheesemaster saidThe EU has 450 million people and every country in it has universal health care.

@caissad4 saidI said you have a hospital and clinic shortage.

I did not say anything about theoretical cost/savings.
Pay attention.
@no1marauder saidThat is a bunch of small countries that decided to call themselves EU.
The EU has 450 million people and every country in it has universal health care.
Are any of them as big as the USA and have 350 million?
