Just out of curiosity, how many people here think that Giulliani can be nominated without support from the Christian right?

Secondly, if he is nominated, does this spell the beginning of the end for the Christian right?

What makes you sure he can win without them? Also, if he does win what makes you think that this would not spell the beginning of the end of the Christian right? Politicians will do what they need to do to succeed and if success is not dependent on the Christian right any more then what influence do they have at that point?

The Religious Right will always be there lurking and ready to jump back out and take power.

Then again we Libertarians have been doing that for a long time and haven't managed to get out of our little box of insignificance.

Politics is simply supply and demand. The supply are those who are affluent and the demand are those who will cater to those who are affluent. In my opinion, the two major parties are in a sense a self contained machine for supply and demand. That is what the Libertarians are lacking.

Heres the deal... the christian right does not make up the rules for the party. Those jerkoffs have pissed off more republicans than they think. If any of them stands up and tells me what I should do they're gonna get a boot in their crack. No one I know, talking republicans here, gives a rats a** what they think either.

So we need wealthy, politically active people and more hired minions for them? Ok...

Well, I am fully employed. Maybe someday?

Who cares what another thinks in general? For example, you see celebraties getting up before Congress to testify about everything and anything. Do you really think that these Congressmen care one bit what these baffoons really think or are they simply stroking the hairs of the affluent for their support by making them feel as though their opinions are important?

In a word, yes. However, they are at a distinct disadvantage. They are going up against two well oiled political/economic machines. It is akin to a family owned computer business trying to compete with IBM. Is it impossible, no, however, it is highly unlikely.

Ron Paul seems to think Libertarians can sneak in and take over the Republicans. Maybe it's because you guys have already been suckered in by the religious right. It makes you look easily...let's say, swayed by a position that you won't favor after seeing it in action.

Or, maybe there are just a lot of Republicans who are deep down a lot like Libertarians.

Or maybe he just has no chance.

Not that I'm a big Pat Robertson fan (like Billy Graham better), for all his faults and 'loose cannon ' mouth. He still has done more good in the world than most ....... this from WikiPedia

Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation (OBI) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) humanitarian organization based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. Since 1978, Operation Blessing International has provided hunger relief, disaster relief, medical aid and community development to more than 192.8 million people in 96 countries and all 50 states, providing goods and services valued at more than $1.2 billion. Operation Blessing is governed by a national board of directors that includes founder M. G. "Pat" Robertson his wife and son Gordon. [1]

Guiliani will get the support of the Christian right if they think he's their best chance of avoiding a Hillary presidency. Regardless of what James Dobson says, I think most values voters will hold their noses and vote for him if they decide he's their best shot of beating her in the general.
