    I've seen opposing lawyers engaged in idle friendly chatter with each other and then try their best to defeat each other and then be friendly again after its over. It was kind of shocking at first. But it's just a job. I think professions that are intrinsically adversarial tend to attract people who can do this.

    This isn't to say there aren't "fluff" interrogations, but the transcript should be relied on to judge that, not how friendly the adversaries are.
