SH doesn't like those progressive policies which might actually help working families but he's kinda embarrassed at cocktail parties by the GOP's fawning over a loudmouth, crass moron like Trump. So he'd like a more respectable right wing hardliner, so like a lot of conservatives he's fallen in love with DeSantis.

And since DeSantis has adopted anti-vaxx and pro spread ...[text shortened]... else a contagious, potentially deadly disease.

His posts should be read with these facts in mind.

LOL I know a few of these in real life.

Alright. I'll bite.

Who got banned from twitter a month ago for posting this?
That's a tough HW project as the removed Tweets and banned people are no longer visible. I did not memorize the names or take notes on the censorship.

I'll try to remember to point it out the next time I see Twitter censoring something equally benign.

@sh76
If they come into ER say with broken arm, get tested, found + for C19, what dif is it when and where it was revealed? Sounds like making a mountain out of a muffin.

That shouldn't be classified as a COVID hospitalization if the goal is to communicate the relative risk people are at from COVID in enabling them to make informed trade-off decisions.

If I want to decide whether to cancel a long-planned family vacation that's going to severely disappoint my kids because of a COVID spike, one think I'd want to know is "how likely is it that COVID will make be sick enough to send me to the hospital?" and the only way to make that determination is to divide the number of COVID hospitalizations by COVID infections (stratified by age, comorbidities, etc.).

A person coming into the ER with a broken arm who swabs positive for COVID and then goes home should be added to the denominator, not the numerator.

For those keeping score at home. the first numbers are in.

43% of COVID hospitalizations in New York (51% in NYC) are not there for COVID.

Count in Dr. Tom Frieden, Former CDC Director and erstwhile COVID alarmist (consider this interventionist article he wrote just one month ago: https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/07/health/frieden-omicron-future/index.html)

His Tweet from yesterday:

18 months ago irresponsible and wrong to say:
-Covid similar to flu
-Many people hospitalized/dying have positive tests, not sick from Covid
- Most important to protect the vulnerable
Omicron is different.
Now: That's basically correct.
Covid is adapting to us, we need to adapt.

The chorus is becoming a groundswell and the COVID interventionists a shrinking and desperate minority.

There is no end to the low understanding responses in this forum. Here I will explain it to you...

Hospitalized due to covid means that there is a medical intervention needed to keep you alive.

In the hospital with covid means you have no need for medical intervention because of the covid. You are doing just fine on your own. You needed to go to the hospital for a different reason.

Your inability to understand this just goes to explain why you believe someone with the flu who gets killed in an auto accident should be counted as a covid death.

That's the ' I saw bigfoot once' argument.

You're right. I have no evidence for that claim at this time. I concede that. All I can do is keep my eyes open for some.
