Christ Nemesio, when have you EVER seen anyone in the Debacle forum back down and apologise after putting his foot in his mouth?

It's like you've been here less than a month.

Just bookmark this thread and bring it up periodically when you run out of ammo...

Fortunately, the Republicans keep providing ammo.

Try this webpage:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bills_sponsored_by_Barack_Obama_in_the_United_States_Senate

Do you think wikipedia is some liberal thinktank or something?

What about a site run by the US government:

thomas.loc.gov

As you can see, in this 110th Congress he's sponsored or lie or utterly inexcusable ignorance
that you stated earlier in the thread?[/i]

One of your sources, wikipedia, defines that a sponsor of a legislative bill in congress is a senator or representative who introduces a bill or amendment and is its chief advocate. It also states that it should not be assumed that a bill's sponsor actually drafted it. The bill may have been drafted by a staff member, by an interest group, or by others.

Thus, as your source states, being a sponsor does not necessarily equate to also being an author. Therefore, McCain & companies' claim that Obama has "authored 2 memoirs but not a single piece of legislation" still holds ground in respect to your evidence that Obama has solely sponsored 136 pieces of legislation since 2005.

Now I'll repeat Mr. NimzovichLarsen's previous question; what proof do you have that Obama has authored a bill in Congress?

He cited three bills by name, dipstick.

What I am more stupified by is the horrible politics up here in washington state by the democrats. They are making a law suit against dino rossi for declaring himself GOP instead of republican... that just makes me worry if people like that are backing obama then what can I really expect from the guy?

Writing a bill is different than putting your name on it...

What a joke! Do you think any of the lawmakers actually sit down with a legal pad and a pen
and draft something? What proof does anyone have that they 'authored' a bill? All bills go
through a thorough drafting process, in which the staff of the lawmaker in question pour over
the idea and structure it such that it conforms to the standards that are expected of bills
(the protocols, the legalese, &c).

http://www.govtrack.us/blog/2008/09/28/writing-versus-sponsoring/

When any lawmaker says that 'they wrote' a bill, they mean that the bill came out of their office,
when they 'co-author' a bill, it means that the respective staffs of the two lawmakers in question
contributed to the bill.

So, all bills are the result of the energies and creative processes of many people. Ultimately,
it's the lawmaker who is on the hook for it, in any event.

So, unless NimsovichLarsen or you can 'prove' that McCain 'authored' a single bill in his lifetime
as distinct from the way that I demonstrated that Obama sponsored several bills, then your
point is totally moot. By that standard, no senators or congressmen have authored any bills
in the past 10 years.

The way the other guys argue, I don't think he'll ever run out of ammo. 😉
