Veeeeeery interesting. Any thoughts on this?
They both are intelligent, capable and respectable men despite the absurd claims by their oppontent's zealous supporters.
It is the first election since my first I was eligible that I felt both candidates were respectable and worthy candidates (remember, Lincoln had only 2 years experience on a national scale when he was elected president).
That said, I would like to start seeing candidates jump the political fence. Party politics is nothing more than factions within a government. These 2 men I think are capable of going beyond that and that says a lot. I firmly believe both are above their parties agenda which is difficult to see during an election.

Originally posted by der schwarze RitterYou really should read a history book not written by revisionist Dixie supporters. The Southern States that attempted to illegally secede from the Union brought the country the Civil War and a number of them seceded before Lincoln even became President. As for the "illegal federal income tax which we still have today", it was repealed in 1871 (and it was never found to have been illegal). http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history.do?action=Article&id=50716

Good -- then McCain can be head of Vichy America.
