It looks like good old Uncle Sam has got his knickers in a bit of a twist...again...

Iraq will investigate allegations that US marines carried out a massacre of civilians in Haditha in November, the country's prime minister has said.

By the way, whats so scandalous about X-ray? Holding terrorist suspects in high security until such time as they can be prosecuted seems perfectly reasonable to me.

The truth is that events such as this are inherent to war, especially one involving a guerrilla insurgency. The problem is only exacerbated by placing very young men into life and death situations for which they are extremely well-trained for the physical aspects of survival, but where psychological preparation for these horrors is nearly non-existent.
The American soldier is a professional whose honor and integrity are not in question. Acknowledging they are also human beings and that a very small number will perform truly savage acts during war is not an attack or a slander of our men and women in uniform. It is simple truth.

History gives us too many examples to think otherwise.
