I agree, military assault rifles that are offered on the civilian market and are allowed because they only fire semi-auto are way too much firepower to be in the hands of civilians.
I get it. I have owned several over the years, but any claim of having them for home defense is ridiculous, I had shotguns and pistols that were plenty good for home defense.
So what should we be allowed to keep in our home and still claim 2nd Amendment rights?

You want to ban all semi auto .223 rifles or just ones that look scary?

Banning the .223 entirely might be an idea actually considering it was invented for the sole purpose of killing people in war. It’s not an adapted hunting round or anything like that.

Any rifle that takes a powerful cartridge and can handle large magazines of 20+ rounds should be restricted.
Likewise, any submachinegun clone that takes 9mm/45, whatever, and can handle huge magazine capacities should not be allowed.
Happy?

I’m indifferent but I like to be specific. I could play Devil’s/Gun Nut’s Advocate and keep bugging you about details but like I said I really don’t care about gun control one way or the other.

.223 was an improvement over the .222 Remington, which was an extremely popular varmint and target cartridge.
After it became the US military rifle round, the 222 went away and the 223 became the most popular varmint/target cartridge.
I mean, like, derhhh. Where have you been?

So you would like people to buy whatever guns they want with no controls over how crazy or criminal they are?
Are you a Republican now?

Yeah but the Army put way more powder behind it to increase bullet velocity. A .44 is far more powerful than a .45 for the same reason.

Don’t care and I don’t like telling people what they’re allowed to do but I don’t oppose gun control either I am totally indifferent. I don’t have guns I don’t shoot guns and I’ve never been in danger from guns. It’s irrelevant to my life.

NO.
The .223/5.56mm is barely more powerful than the .222 Remington and is far behind many other .222 rifle cartridges.
5.56mm is not some kind of magic bullet, and "a .44 is far more powerful than a .45 " is one of the most retarded things you have said on this site.

I worked there and let me tell you I am in more fear of you paranoid old white men with your concealed pistols than I am of Snoop Dogg’s AK.

I'm a Bad Boy, with a lotta hoes
Drive my own cars, and wear my own clothes
I hang out tough, I'm a real boss
Big Snoop Dogg, yeah he's so sharp
On the TV screen and in the magazines
If you play me close, you're on a red beam
Oh you got a gun so you want to pop back?
AK-47 now n****, stop that

.223 is literally based off the 222 magnum which was invented by the Army it’s a perfect comparison to the .45 and .44 magnum

Well I did and felt safe, I worked at the Firestone tire plant next to Watts, no problem for me. But that was after the Watts riots. My biggest gripe was living a block away from the plant meant they would call me at 3 am or so when the Banbury 27 took a dump, 2000 hp electric motor the size of a room fed with multi megawatts and needed TLC almost daily. Other than that, I had no problem with anyone.
