US armed the Afghan army so they could defend the country. Just like they did in Iraq.
When the Afghan army collapsed, the Taliban were left with the riches in the form of American weapons.
When America decided to pull out of Afghanistan, everyone knew that it was going to go to the Taliban.
That it happened so quickly is what created the media circus around the event.
And that it happened as fast as it did was the end result of Trump reducing the troop count to 2500 just before leaving office.
And that was for political motives, to sabotage the incoming Biden administration.
I came to conclusion back in January and I was right.
If Biden did anything, he pulled the plug that needed to be pulled.
Could he have done it better ? Of course !! Another assessment on the ground would have been prudent.
It never makes for good optics when a President stands in front of the media and before the nation and says he was taken by surprise by the rapid turn of events.
As to some starting a thread titled "what would have happened if Trump was President" ?

I don't think they left many choppers but at any rate, they might get some use out of them but they are maintenance nightmares and when they die who are they going to ask for parts? Like EBAY?
