Will someone please define 'loved one'. 90 days paid leave is in Biden's latest proposal. You libs propose something new about every 8 hours.
Biden's latest. So, if I love my business partners uncle, who helped us found a business, and he dies at 89, can I get paid leave for that? Have you all gone absolutely mad?
After you get this one passed, can y'all just stop it and let us all get back to real meaningful lives? Jesus.
@sonhouse saidEspecially over nothing.
@AverageJoe1
I LOVE to see you ultrarightwingnutjobs fume.
@averagejoe1 saidIsn’t it typical that about 99.9% of people will know exactly what the phrase “loved ones” means but you are either so thick that you don’t know or such a lying disingenuous right wingtard that your pretending that you don’t know, whilst still being thick enough to think that reasonable people care either way.

@kevcvs57 saidGet real. An employer is trying to run a business and an employee says I need to be off for 90 days, a loved one is really sick. " I really can't do much about his sickness, but I can get him groceries and sit by his bed".

So off he goes for 90 days, and another employee walks in. The employer asks "What does 'loved one' mean"? The employee, named Suzianne, says 'you are worried about nothing". "And I need the next few months off, my cousin who I love fell off her motorcycle.".
Oh, you PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!
@AverageJoe1 You make a good point there. Imagine a situation where any employee that becomes aware of someone who is sick and then decides to milk the system? The politicians should be professional enough to define who is considered a loved one when speaking about such things. All it would take is saying immediate family if that is what is meant. This is probably more about the low quality leadership than it is a real concern of them putting into place a situation that would shut down businesses with ultra socialist control.
@averagejoe1 saidBut your still pretending that you and your imaginary employer do not know what the phrase “loved one” means. If you do not think a husband should get time off to care for their sick wife or a mother for her child just say so. I know it’s second nature for you people to lie but you must know by now that you people will be called out on it.

@averagejoe1 saidThe law will specifically provide who is covered; it won't use a vague term like "loved one" unless it then defines it.

This is typical right wing drivel; many countries have the same program.
@kevcvs57 saidKev says spouse or child is a loved one. That is probably correct, but we Repubs see exactly why it was not phrased that way. Kevecvs57, they are buying votes. Do I need to once again spell-out how to define buying votes. All of the wastrels who received free money in the mail (while 9M jobs linger) will vote for the folks who gave them the free money. Further, the aliens will vote democratic. Now, a NEW crop of voters is being CREATED by the democrats. They may think, Cool, we may get even more days off at employer's expense in the next term of office.

Kevin please say "everyone, AvJoe has got a point,,,,the Dems are buying votes, and it makes me feel slimy,."

I didn't see you getting hot a bothered when the American taxpayers were shelling out tens of millions in security and other costs, so "The Donald" could play golf, or 700K in consulting fees to Ivanka Trump (for doing nothing) but help a common wage earner aid in saving the life of a relative or friend, and you blow a gasket. 🙄
@mchill said'A' common wage earner. I thought we were talking about millions of employees, and thousands of affected businesses. Nice try.

Security? Google 'Cori Bush security', I don't see you getting hot and bothered over that waste. Who would want to get her anyway!?!??
@AverageJoe1. Let me get this straight, if you can pull yourself back to the issue...you are getting like Sonhouse. You don't think the Dems are buying votes with this??
@averagejoe1 saidI cannot define 'loved one' to someone whose soul is owned by the Lord of Hatred.

@no1marauder saidwho writes the law…ummm yeah, the ones that just left it hanging at “ loved one”

@mott-the-hoople saidI have been fortunate enough to work for a company that offered two weeks for this kind of leave. I took it for my fiancé which is technically not immediate family. They were cool about it. On the other hand many many would abuse the system if it were to become law without very specific definitions. The law makers are all too aware that employers will be extremely sensitive to this issue and to me they left it vague for political gain. Before announcing it a deliberate decision was made on how to word it. Even if they law specifies later it has to be an immediate family member which it most certainly will, it is pandering to the freebie crowd now. This is very unprofessional to treat businesses this way. Poor leadership
