Yes, Biden has been in DC a very long time and would continue with the same old same old.
Palin would shake things up. She could definitely do the job. Hell, if GW can do it, what idiot can't?
the key problem is dems like to talk about ideas whereas many gop like to talk about people.. and the avg. usa citizen can easily relate to people talkers better. (look up that old lady roosevelt quote 😛)
palin has to sell herself good this week, before facts come out.. im guessing those who are loyal will be and those who arnt will laugh, like the last 2 days.
Originally posted by pritybettaI didn't say it was a forgone conclusion it was true. But ongoing controversy, allegations, and investigations, is hardly what you want from your "questionable experienced" VP pick, is it?
You do know that the investigation has not been concluded don't you?
What you read from any news source about this may not be true. So far
I'm saying. McCain was foolish to choose her.

Nice. 😞 Are you always this misogynistic? Would you say this sort of crap about Hilary as well? Or do you just reserve your bile for conservative women?
It is no difference than if I were to say "this guy". Or does that denigrate young men in your world?
Originally posted by SickboyBull Crap. You referred to the GOP candidate for vice president as "this girl" and then followed it up with further insulting statements. That's hugely different than referring to a man as a "guy" and you damned well know it. It's a diminutive and an entirely inappropriate way to refer to the governor and candidate for VP. FAIL!

Originally posted by leisurelyslothI'd say it's a casual, informal comment but not demeaning or belittling.

Once again, she's a beautiful woman therefor she's automatically too stupid to tie her own shoes. It's nice to see you lefties showing your true colors. 😞
Originally posted by leisurelyslothI'm referring to the "this girl" comment.
Really, ATY?
"...this girl... ...underqualified, small-time, Northern Exposure.. it's pathetic."
You think it's a stretch to see any hint of demeaning or belittling in those terms?
Underqualified is not demeaning either. The other two are.
Originally posted by treetalkA quantum leap in logic? Really? This is the second time that Irontigran has claimed that she's too dumb to be VP. And he's certainly not the first to suggest that. And based upon what? Nobody's heard anything from her yet. Why are all the lefties assuming she's a dumb ass? Is it just that lefties assume all conservatives are stupid? Or is it just the fact that she's a beautiful woman that makes her automatically a dumb ass? It sure as hell seems like it's the latter. They certainly seem to be enjoying making light of her because of the fact that she was in a beauty pageant.
And once again you righties make a quantum leap in logic to come up with some imaginary point to battle the lefties with.
And why the obsession with intellect anyway. Dan Quayle was a dunce and the country seemed to survive his vice presidency just fine--and even got a few good laughs out of it. Jimmy Carter was one of the smartest presidents ever, and without question one of the worst (if not the VERY worst). It certainly didn't appear that either Reagan or Clinton were intellectual heavyweights (neither brilliant nor stupid) and both turned out to be pretty decent presidents (depending on who you ask, perhaps even great).
Originally posted by leisurelyslothWhether or not she's dumb has nothing to do with her gender or whether or not she's 'a beautiful woman'.

Unless I missed it, Irontigran didn't tie the two - separate - issues together; you did.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungAdmittedly, the post requires that you have foreknowledge of the charges in the first place. There has been lively debate here and elsewhere and if you've not been following it ... however, you are right, I certainly didn't provide all the context here (there's ALOT).
Yet you've combined both smears into one post, and you've done it by grabbing every Palin-bashing quote in the article and pasting it here regardless of relevancy.
The gist, is that Palin has repeatedly denied pressuring officials to fire Wooten, in fact, even denied knowledge of it. There's lots of countering evidence to that and I've asserted my opinion here and elsewhere that this is one of the reasons I think it was such a stupid choice by the McCain camp.
Again, I admit, if you hadn't been following my posts or the threads here, that would be hard to see. I've since (prior to your post) been gently reminded that I shouldn't have used as many distinct threads to make those points.
Originally posted by leisurelyslothAgain, so, hypothetically, if Palin was a man and I said, "this guy" and then followed it up with further insulting statements, you would assume I was denigrating young men? 🙄

I didn't say I didn't insult her as choice for VP. I most certainly did. What I did NOT do was insult her as a choice for VP because she's a woman.
