I dunno really. The stupid thing about peace is that it's the no-brainer really isn't it? Would you choose to live your lives without hassle or would you rather your friends and relatives got shot or stabbed or blown up or left in prison cells to rot? Tricky one isn't it? Would you rather watch your kids grow up, or would it be better to leave them scrabbling in the arms of some enemy death squad? What do you prefer - the sound of hysterical laughter or hysterical crying?

Such an easy answer, yet we seem to have got it wrong so many times, without learning a thing. I'm not sure peace is ever a realistic aim, but I haven't got a clue why not.

Rich.

ok religion could be one reason for war. Let us not forget greed, property, and possesion.

Indeed. It is instructive to remember that of the most devastating wars of this century -- WWI and WWII -- as well as of the majority of "lesser" wars of the modern era, none arose from religion.

Its not idiocy just because you don't understand it. People though einstein was an idiot because they could not understand him.

Anyway its actualy very true.

Peace is inevitable. Soon some potent horror will cull all of us, leaving the bobcats and rabbits, silver ferns and pink clouds, and the earth will rest once more. It is us, silly humans, who invent such fragile concepts as peace, but when we are finally removed there will be true peace.

The possession of land and natural resources are the main reasons for war.

1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Are you suggesting that bobcats and rabbits typically live in peace? 😉

Peace is not external, it is internal. Every man can be at peace if he so chooses.

Bobcats and rabbits live in harmony with each other. Believe it or not, the two species benefit each other directly: only weak and old rabbits are caught by bobcats, leaving the strong and wise rabbits; and the Bobcats themselves have to work very hard to make a kill (about 10% success rate). And, when a Bobcat does finally catch a rabbit, they kill her very quickly, and without pain, by a single bite to the base of the neck. Humans, on the other hand... Well, I won't gross you out. But we could learn a real lesson from these two animals, if we are humble enough to look.

I've never seen any concrete indication that anyone wants peace. People say they want peace but no one actually acts that way. Families fight, lovers fight, countries fight, even our recreations, such as chess, are wars in miniature.
