Lastly, here is Barney Frank doing his best impression of Sylvester the Cat while fending off criticism of the Samoa exemption from members of the U.S. House:
No Warlord....you must be wrong! It cant be! The Dem's truly care about the little people (or course as long it does not affect them)
Oh, yea...Look into pelosi and the subject of unions. She is all for them, heck everybody should work for them, thus recieving a fair shake against the big bad business man (Oh, yea, except for the businesses that she owns. Those don't count!) Sure, she will take money from unions, put don't push that crap on my vineyard workers. Sure, she'll propose protests against wal-mart, because they would go union, but not my people!! Oh-No!!
Yea...she wants wal-mart to provide health care to temp. workers, but she doesn't.
She is against stopping the flood of illegals that come across the border. Why? Is she not interested in the security of our nation? Probably, but mostly it affects the workers she uses to pick grapes. She relies of "foreign workers" to harvest her crops.
Yea...she is a piece of....work!

Why do we want to raise the minimum wage at all then? Hmmmm.... I wonder....

Hey...wait a minute! This sounds like something I have heard of....but what was it??
Originally posted by AThousandYoungHow is this "corruption"??? A determination was made that due to special factors not applicable to other territories (i.e. a small number of low paying employers who could easily move their operations thus causing massive unemployment in an economically backward place) that raising the minimum wage in American Samoa would not be a good public policy. Perhaps there is a cause to debate the issue, but "corruption"? I don't see it.
More government corruption...this time in my state. Stupid wench.
Since 1989, "The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), applies generally to employment within American Samoa as it does to employment within the United States. The minimum wage rates for American Samoa are set by a special industry committee (29 U.S.C. 205, 29 C.F.R. Part 511) appointed by the U.S. Department of Labor, as required by the Act. The rates are set for particular industries, not for an employee's particular occupation. The rates are minimum rates (29 U.S.C. 206(a)(3)); an employer may choose to pay an employee at a rate higher than the rate(s) for its industry."

I did, jerk. They didn't bother to mention that American Samoa has had special rules for the minimum wage for at least 17 years.
coincidence?
