NORFOLK, Va. - At People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Bruce Friedrich directs campaigns in the name of animal rights. Now he’s going to be at the center of his own campaign — for president.
Friedrich has been selected to appear this summer on “American Candidate,” a Showtime reality series in which competitors will tackle a series of challenges to demonstrate what goes into the making of a presidential candidate.
“I do appreciate the opportunity to be a face for animal rights, a face for PETA and a face for compassion for all animals,” said Friedrich, the man behind such PETA stunts as passing out “Unhappy Meals” to children to try to get McDonald’s to improve living conditions for its chickens.

I've visited the site you mentioned in your post in the <Animal Experimentation> thread: www.votebruce.org
I was wondering. He's stating: "The fact that God's animals are treated no better than dirt is unconscionable, and I'll use the office of president to change our society's consciousness on the issue of the massive societal use and abuse of animals for food, clothing, research ..... "
I agree with him on these issues.
Because he is stating the following: <My Philosophy and My Politics>
"I believe in taking Christ's call to compassion seriously, and I believe that our compassion must transcend both borders and species.", I was wondering whether he also wants to change the fact that God's unborn children are sometimes treated no better than dirt and wants to change society's consciousness on the issue of massive abuse of His unborn children for convenience, research and other reasons ?
In other words is he pro-choice or pro-life ?
The following statement is imo not very enlightening in this regard, but rather confusing: "12. Abortion: We need to care for children after they're born, too." (click on <My beliefs> nr 12.)
Can you explain his stances on these issues ? I'll open a new thread on this subject.
Of course THIS one is the new thread !!

Bruce is against implementing legislation to restrict a woman’s access to abortion, but as a Catholic, he is personally not in favor of abortion, and he thinks it’s wrong. However, as someone who has a clear understanding of class and racial issues in this country, Bruce is concerned that if abortion was made illegal, wealthy women would continue to have access to safe (albeit illegal) abortions, while desperate poor women would attempt to terminate an unwanted pregnancy through dangerous backyard abortions. Bruce is in favor of raising consciousness around abortion issues so that people understand the gravity of the choices that they’re making – enabling fully-informed choices – while also improving support services for parents so that the prospect of having children isn’t so daunting.

What is he going to do about education? My textbooks are 14 years old. Can he please get some funding?

Some people claim to be both pro-life and pro-choice. This is a ploy taken by politicians, who appear absolutely petrified to take a stand on the abortion issue. They usually say, "I'm personally against abortion, but I don't object to a woman who wants to have one if she believes it is the right thing to do."
The problem with this statement is that it doesn't tell us the reason why the politician claims to be personally against abortion. Since most people who are against abortion are so because they believe that the unborn are fully human and have all the rights that go along with such a status, we would expect that if the politician were personally against abortion it would be for the same reason. But this would make the politician's personal opposition and public permission of abortion somewhat perplexing, since the assumed reason why he would be personally against abortion is the same reason why he should be against publicly permitting it, namely, that an entity which is fully human has a right to life.
After all, what would we think of the depth of an individual's convictions if he claimed that he was personally against the genocide of a particular group, say animals, but he added that if others thought this was OK, they were certainly welcome to participate in the genocide if they so chose? What I'm getting at is simply that the nature of some "personal" opinions warrants public actions, even if these opinions turn out to be wrong, while other opinions (e.g., one's personal preference for German chocolate cake) do not. Thus, it makes little moral sense to claim that one is both pro-life and pro-choice.

I'm not surprised.
Gee.
The animal worshiping guy doesn't see that I am better and stonger and smarter than him!
Gee.

I am. In every way. Sorry. If you grow a brain, you can feel free to become a "dominant" predator. Until then... "Dude! Worshiped any animals lately?"
I don't think you're better, stronger and smarter than him because it takes a bigger person to walk away.
I do happen to have a brain. Why are you being mean when I am politely asking you to stop?

Kirk.
You are raising your daughter.
Is this good for her?
Is she to be human? Or a cult follower?
Up to you buddy.
Shame on you prad. To corrupt a human as you are doing. Shame is only the start. But at least, we know you don't care for anything but power.
