why should the fed govt support them when they dont pay any federal taxes?
But they do.

As US citizens, they are subject to income tax.

What you may be referring to, is that, as an economically depressed territory, they pay less tax overall. The average income there is pathetic.

This is why the right is against statehood for them. Then they could not deny they are citizens.

US gives Billions in aid every year to Puerto Rico and they blow it because of corruption and graft don't blame the US for the problems Puerto Rico has, they deserve what they get.
How do you manage day to day spewing such hatred and ignorance?

Only Puerto Ricans that are employed by the federal govt or are in the military pay federal income taxes, the rest don't.

As residents of the island we do not pay federal income taxes, but we do pay the same federal medicare, social security, self-employment, unemployment, customs, and merchandise taxes as residents of the states. In 2022 the federal taxes paid by the residents of Puerto Rico to the US added up to $4.8 billion dollars.

"However, notwithstanding these requirements, some residents of Puerto Rico are not required to file federal income tax returns because their income falls below the poverty threshold. As of 2019, the median income of Puerto Rico was $20,166, which falls below the poverty threshold of $24,400. The IRS does not require individuals or households below the poverty threshold to pay federal income tax.

Puerto Rico residents pay more in federal income taxes every year than do residents of six U.S. states: "From 1998 up until 2006, when Puerto Rico was hit by its present economic recession, Puerto Rico consistently contributed more than $4 billion annually in federal taxes and impositions into the national fisc." This was more that the IRS collected from taxpayers in six States of the Union: Vermont, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, and Alaska, as well as the Northern Mariana Islands."
