Kudos to President Obama for exerting leadership and pressure to bring focus to the Syrian chemical weapons -- without firing a shot.

Experts begin dismantling Syrian chemical program

BEIRUT (AP) — International disarmament experts on Sunday began dismantling and destroying Syria's chemical weapons arsenal and the equipment used to produce it, taking the first concrete step in their colossal task of eliminating the country's chemical stockpile by mid-2014, an official said. . . .

The Obama administration threatened to launch punitive missile strikes against Syria, prompting frantic diplomatic efforts to forestall an attack. Those efforts concluded with September's unanimous U.N. Security Council resolution endorsing the elimination of Syria's chemical weapons.

Your hero Putin would have never responded as he did without the leadership of the President drawing the humanity line in the sand.

You seem to confuse the issues. Assad used chemical weapons on his own people. Our President put pressure on Syria and the rest of the world, and put a stop to that.

I have no contemporary heros much less one from Russia. There was no line drawn according to Obama as he backed down from his attempt to attack a sovereign nation justified by false flag events. You should keep up with current affairs a little better.

Did you even read the AP article? (current affairs). Are you disappointed the President accomplished this without firing a shot?

That was not the presidents original purpose. The associated press is a good example of government controlled media. Just say no to the kool aid man!!!

An utter joke. Assad has a green light to use any other weapon with impunity. This in turn stokes "Islamism", as the media terms it. Syria already makes Bosnia look like a picnic - now Obama has the excuse he needs to step away from it.

Confusing the issue is easy to do when you are drowning in hypocrisy.

They have not given up on Assad. They have merely changed plans.

Obama is too concerned right now regarding his power at home. He knows that now is not the time to piss people off at home, rather, he is merely delaying things a bit.

It is not an utter joke to dismantle Syrian chemical weapons.

It is not an utter joke to be isolationist with regard to Syria in response to the demands of the American people and avoid involving the US militarily in the Syrian conflict.

It's a joke when the overwhelming majority of people area being killed by artillery bombardment, barrel bombs and surface-to-surface missiles. It's also a joke to encourage insurgents with empty promises of assistance when you have no intention of assisting them - when you prefer to help the killer stay in power. You also seem to fail to understand that Obama's pitiful display has helped stoke extreme Islamist factions, lending credence to Assad's "they're not rebels, they're foreign terrorists" by forcing rebels to abandon all hope of Western aid and turn to anyone who will sponsor them. So, the Pax Obama is contributing to the spread of an international security blanket, inevitably provoking terrorism and responses to terrorism that will inevitably kill bystanders.

There can be no isolationism for a super-power. There can only be replacement by another power, whether a single nation or a bloc. Isolationism is a decoy to get you to swallow what you already desperately want to swallow, so you can justify your apparently total lack of concern for the welfare of the rest of your species.

It is really a logic stretch to suggest that dismantling Syrian chemical weapons is a bad thing and somehow further destabilized Syria in a negative way.

As for US military intervention, I agree with the President and McCain, but the American people do not. And the US is a representative democracy.
