@mott-the-hoople saidIt's a horrible bill.
democrats used the filibuster to block sanctions on russia last week... racist b astards

What does the pipeline have to do with Ukraine?
The bill only places sanctions on businesses tied to the pipeline, not Russia. The bill would also be a gift to Putin, in that it would drive a wedge between Germany and the US.
Why not support Menendez's bill, which also calls for additional sanctions on Russia itself if they invade Ukraine?
@metal-brain saidNATO missiles on Ukrainian territory?
This is what is required to avoid Russia invading the Ukraine.
Pledges from the West — including a promise not to conduct NATO military activity in Eastern Europe — because Russia's security is threatened by Ukraine’s growing ties with the Western alliance and the possibility of NATO missiles being deployed against it on Ukrainian territory.
Are you insane?
@mott-the-hoople saidWhy do the Republicans keep voting for liars?
why do liberals always stick their heads in the sand when dem corruption is going on right in front of them?
@sonhouse saidI guess PUTIN ain't happy

Sounds like final preparations for war. 100,000 troops on the border so all we are waiting for now is what Putin puts up as an excuse to attack Ukraine with the agenda of getting the old Soviet empire back.

“ "By stopping NS2, Gazprom would still rely on the Ukrainian gas transmission system to deliver volumes to EU markets, thus serving as an additional strategic deterrent against further Russian destabilization of Ukraine.”

Oh, you mean it was BIDEN allowing Russia to just take over the Crimea? And the military buildup Russia has pulled next to Ukraine?
@sonhouse saidrussia took crimea while obama was in office

@sh76 saidDon't assume Biden is making these decisions all on his own. He probably has Henry Kissinger advising him.
What to do to help Ukraine is a very difficult question under any circumstances. But it's plain that Biden has neither the guts nor the skill to deal with this issue. Ukraine will fall unless Putin decides to hold off on his own for some reason we may not be thinking of or be privy to.
Letting Russia invade may serve as a propaganda tool to demonize Russia.
@metal-brain saidthis has to embolden china…look out Taiwan

@jimm619 saidTo be fair, the Russians are arming the Russian speaking Ukranians and the West are arming the pro-European Ukrainians.
We won't put boots
on the ground,
We will continue to arm The Ukrainians.
Canada has sent a Special Forces team.
https://news.yahoo.com/canada-deploys-small-contingent-special-215122082.html
And to be equally fair, it’s already a war situation, albeit by proxy. 14.000 dead so far since 2013 pretty much states so.
Now, far be it for me to draw any fukking parallels to history on this splat of moronity, but, uh, Vietnam? Afhganistan? Korea?
And it always ends well.
Russia has major issues with Nato holding troop movements in Poland and elsewhere along its border. And Ukraine wants to join Nato and the West is arming Ukraine…
Now, don’t get me wrong on this issue, Putin is as mad as a hatter. He’s a trump, but intelligent and very fukking nasty to boot. But, the Russian’s do have a point from their perspective.
Diplomatically seen, the Ukraine has to be declared a neutral state with non-military international observers (UN) there, for escalations to unwind. The Ukraine government doesn’t want that (although I guess if they had to choose… ).
Another option would be to split the country in two. Ukraine doesn’t want that though.
Another option is that Russia does what it wants. Russia doesn’t want to put troops on the ground though. Because then their own soldiers will be stuck in a proxy war fighting rebels and what-not for years to come who are being secretly financed and armed by the West. They are not stupid.
An all out war between NATO and Russia is not in the table. And over Ukraine never will be.
Ukraine isn’t NATO and isn’t EU.
@Mott-The-Hoople
If it had been Trump, he would have waved the Russian flag and said I pledge 500 BILLION in aid to Russia.....
