With a population of around 340 million, how does the US end up with two candidates around 80 years old for the presidency? Is really is nuts that's it's even possible.

Your country Ireland is about 20% worse in business corruption than all the EU businesses.. I tried to invest there a few years ago and was advised to forget it, glad I did, three of the 'lads' did not fare so well. Corruption. Bad in Ireland.
So check your own back yard. As to ages, we have a govt which is run by almost 600 legislators, not just the old Presidents. But Trump thinks like a 50 year old. He is accused by some posters of being corrupt, but that is the result of business decisions personally, it cannot be said that he hurt people. He GREATLY helped our country, being in charge. Biden is old and is in charge of absolutely nothing, except for his own corruption of unexplained millions, and also the corrupt govt practice of dictating over and beyond strict rules of the Supreme Court. He ignores those 600 legislators (actually his staff ignores our law, makers, a staff corrupt in running govt) . He is a quasi-dictator. THAT is what you have not seemed to pick up on.
I will advise YOU to invest in the USA in about 5 months, Not in Ireland.

And that's all I got to say about that.

well the age requirement to run for President is 35 years old. So that greatly reduces your 340 million people....the median age in the USA is 38 yrs old. But I know what you mean...for a long time it's been a choice between bad and worse...😭 .

So instead of talking about the possibility of younger presidential candidates you rush right into your idea of republican attacks on democrats and how absolutely GREAT your orange fascist is.
How about talking about the dudes question instead of turning into yet another venue you think folks will listen to, your love of Trump and your hatred of Biden.

Hey Unique, just what IS your nickname🙂

I had a lot of fun when I visited Leixlip, for a job interview with Intel in Dublin. Had my mandolin and the B&B I stayed in was nice and one time I was carrying my mandolin walking to the bus stop, pretty wooded area, and a crowd of about 10 waifs come out of the woods following me like the Pied Piper🙂 A tune I was playing called "Teabag blues', an old timey American tune, they loved it and asked me to play it some 4 times, it was charming to see those little kids playing in the woods.

The two-party system has utterly failed. This is due to several factors, some of which are:

1. The rise of the Tea Party, which was supposed to be a viable third party. The GOP realised that the Tea Party would split the Republican vote, so Republicans 'welcomed' them into the GOP, thinking that the centrist Rebublicans would moderate and tame the more radical Tea Party members. The opposite happened: the Tea Party members radicalised the GOP.

2. Several issues have so polarised the U.S. congress, that the two main parties will no longer cooperate on legislation; again, partly due to the radicalisation of the GOP by Gaetz and MTG and others who are prepared to burn down the house rather than solicit support from across the aisle.

3. The GOP has sold its soul to a demagogue. The traditional GOP members have been driven out (Romney, Cheney), leaving the GOP with no principles left at all any more. They just want power, at any cost, including at the cost of democracy itself. The GOP used to be the party of financial responsibility, but Trump ran up the 3d highest national debt of any president in history (even before COVID hit), and Republicans act as if he made America great again doing it; in fact, they want more of the same, runaway spending and tax cuts for the rich with no plan to finance it (yeah 'tariffs'--make China pay for it, just like he made Mexico pay for the wall 😆 ) . Trump's delusional worldview has utterly poisoned the GOP.

4. The Democrats have wasted the last 8 years merely re-acting to Trump's ever more scurrilous and outrageous antics. The day after Hillary won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College (now THAT should be disbanded!), the Democrats should have worked out a strategy to take back the White House by grooming a young, dynamic, credible, candidate. They failed.

5. And now America is faced with two (maybe three) candidates, not one of whom would have passed muster 50 years ago. I'm old enough to remember when a Vice Presidential candidate, Thomas Eagleton, was deemed unfit and dumped from the ticket merely because he had once had a depression (underwent therapy and recovered). In this election cycle, we are looking at candidates who are currently crawling with psychological deficits and disorders which would fill up several chapters of the psychiatric Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), who fall asleep during momentous events which could define not only their own careers but the trajectory of the nation, and no one dares to ask, "Whoa, Nelly! WTF is going down here?" Standards have slipped, for both parties. Truly, we are witnessing the decline and fall of an empire, right before our eyes, in slo-mo.

Not so slow now that the Heritage foundation has totally taken control of SCOTUS and now the president is literally a king, the next blow in the dissolving of the US as a world power and such, If Trump gets in there will be immediate repercussions further pushing the decline of the US.

We fought the American revolution just to get out from under the thumb of kings and now it is back full force.

Even if Trump loses come November, they will still be pushing for the same thing in '28 and '32 and '36 and on and on unless those asssholes are either arrested of bankrupted.
This will end the debate on who makes the best candidate since that won't even be on the table, instead, just whomever Project 2025 want's as 'president' if the old dude died. The new on might even BE a forty year old, that way they can keep up the power hold for even more decades, just like they will replace the aging SCOTUS members with THEIR list of 40 YO possible candidates.

In other words, America and American citizens are totally screwed.

He spoke of age, I explained, without even talking about dems wanting to throw Biden out, how he is corrupt and in violation of SCOTUS edicts, expanding for Nicname how seriously his age has made him horrible..It is true, you know. It is true.
On the other hand, we do not know for a fact that Trump is what you call and define as a fascist, so that did not help him much, since it is only your opinion. All that I stated was fact.
So please do not fly off the handle. Was I right that the senile man (the subject of Nicname's post) has unexplained millions and has defied SCOTUS? Was I wrong? Has he defied SCOTUS< or not? And, bragged about it. I just tried to reply to Nicname, and in the process ask him to hold off disparaging our country. 🇺🇸

YOU seem to tell me that I should have a vanilla conversation starting with we the USA, need young politicians?!? As opposed to old ones? Like, Borneo should have leaders that are not old and dimensional like our president is? Speaking with an Irishman ?

Like I said, you don't have a CLUE as to what is really going on right in front of us out in the open and it is clear you REFUSE to actually learn the depravity of the multi decade push to fascism.
You need to wake up and smell the coffee, when you wake up and find we in fact don't have a democracy any more, it will be WAY to late for your tears to flow.
And OF COURSE all you can do is poo poo the entire idea, the USA is WAY to strong to EVER allow a dictatorship.
Thing is, it has happens dozens of times, Russia, Italy, Spain, Germany, countries in Africa SPECIALIZE in dictatorships and we are not immune here as much as you poo poo the idea.

Why don't you tell me WHY we will never have a dictatorship here in spite of the fact biden is ALREADY a king as we speak but he has this talent that Trump never had and never will have. INTEGRITY and compassion, words Trump would PUKE hearing those words.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jun/11/trump-project-2025-wrecking-ball

There is a 900 page Heritage foundation manifesto and they have had 50 years to build up their power and I bet you never even HEARD of them.
Try reading this piece by the Guardian, they are NOT frothing at the mouth liberals.

One little tidbit: Scotus has already given POTUS more power than any other president in US history and they WILL make his power even stronger.

Have you ever given a thought to WHY the founding fathers wrote the constitution the way it reads?

Hint: I is about having a president who is accountable to the people and to not be able to single individuals out for arrest of death because they criticize the government.

That is gone now, If Biden wanted to, he can now weaponize DOJ and go after anyone he wants, he is the BOSS of DOJ and can tell Garland, arrest Trump, he is a criminal and needs to be behind bars and Garland would have no choice to either follow through or quit.
And you can bet your ass Trump will install total yes men to the top jobs like AG and it WILL be totally weaponized so ANYONE he considers an enemy or worse, a rival, disappeared.

You really need to think this through and understand exactly what will happen if the puppet Trump is reelected. He WILL be a puppet of Project 2025.

So I see a few points, I really do, that hyou want me to respond to. Like, that Trump will be a dictator. No, he woln't , and you should really settle down.. Let us just say that I, AvJoe, know him just a bit and he is all about SUCCESS. You must have missed that line (remember, rather than vengance or retribution?). So I truly believe his thing is success and to wtch us all develop as a redult of his leadership. You Think That I Am Wrong. I fully believe I am right, and that you ar wrong.
I cannot imagine writing about that. We won't change each other, so we will hve to see what happens. Or course, you have not noticed Biden sinking our country....Not convenient for your arguments.
Secondly, you seem to interchagne the term 'leader' for your favorite, 'King'. Or Dictator. BNiden is a dictator in my eyes. He truly is. He is not to you. Again, why write about it. Let us not forget how you follow AOC who wants to change our world because she, and you, and Bernie, are not happy, Isn't this where I say you need to move to another country? How about fairyland Netherlands?
Assuming I am right that Obama, who is actually running things, wants to change our world (another discussion), does it not Make One Bit of SENSE to you that our side (the producers) needs an organization to fight your kind back? To get you to leave us the hell alone? Have you been missing my posts? So, I send money to Hetitage on a yearly contribution, as well as Hillside College. You would HATE them, as they make independent citizens. Sonhouse, if I said which is better, independent people or dependent, you would not answer. Pitiful. All qustions to libs are trick questions form their point of view. You dont answer questins any way (The male swimmer, the tuition theivery).

Excue me, did you sayd Repubs are weaponizing??? Jesus Christ.

All I can say is good luck with your faith in Trump, when he turns into a dictator and becomes a Project 2025 puppet and YOUR freedoms are gone it will be too late for me to tell you I told you so.
I bet you haven't watched a single link I posted have you?
You don't even think it's a big deal POTUS now has total immunity just like a king which is really sad, so the US will get what it deserves and people like you will be secretly crying in your beer about just how wrong you were.
