Anyone disagree?
What is worrying is that the lawyers must have believed they had a chance of winning!
A few thoughts. The parents have reaped what they have sown. They raised an entitled bitch princess, and they should not be surprised that they have an adult entitled bitch princess. Having reached the age of eighteen, she's old enough to understand the consequences of her actions. What she does not understand is how profound the divide she's created between herself and her parents will grow. She'll be thinking about this in fifty years - with regret, one hopes.
But then there's the best friend's parent. Funding the lawsuit is retribution for some slight, real or imagined. A responsible adult would have fed her some chicken soup, made sure she was calm, and then dropped her back off at her parents' house. This man has not covered himself in glory.
I agree with you - I'm shocked that the judge didn't dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, and some stern words for both the plaintiff and her sugar daddy. I hope this slut's resume comes across my desk one day.

"Slut"?

B) I don't see any such allegations of "inappropriate touching" in the article. Where are you getting this "information"?

There are a lot of disputed facts in the case. We'll see how it goes.

There's a lot of facts in dispute. Maybe you should wait until there is some sort of resolution before automatically assuming one side is telling the gospel truth and the other side, a teenage girl, is a "contemptible slut".

Originally posted by wolfgang59I think the case is somewhat interesting. As stated in various articles, emancipation in New Jersey is not automatic at age 18 but dependent on several variables. Additionally, it's fairly common for a non-custodial parent to have to pay a share of the educational expenses of a college aid child (and, of course, parents may claim a college student child as a dependent well after 18).

I think IF a court finds a "constructive abandonment" by the parents, it may well order her educational expenses to be paid by them (though I doubt she'll get support). IF the court finds she simply "ran away", she'll probably get nothing.
The decision made seems to have been a preliminary one on an "emergency" application and it shouldn't be assumed that the result will be the same after a hearing with witness testimony. As I said, there are many salient facts in dispute.
