As for James Bond: The man has a mission to save the planet. He’s a trained murderer and nothing is allowed to get in his way and he’ll do anything to achieve his goals.
Basically, he’s a sociopathic monster. Obviously he abuses women.
To call him mysogenist is belitteling to the hundreds of people he’s killed.
Oh, it glorifies treating women like a play thing? Yes. It also glorifies feeding people to sharks and electrocuting people in baths with toasters. All done with a wink and a cool comment.
It’s like calling Asterix and Obelix racist.
It’s not. It just uses racist imagery to make jokes.
And all of this is why it is so important to keep context and intent in mind with any of these issues.
One last example, especially for Vivify:
Copkiller by Ice-T.
The lyrics are about shooting policemen.
But the context is about police brutality against blacks. And the intent of the song is a protest song about the frustration of not being heard via legal channels.
It’s not actually about shooting cops at all. That’s just the image used to sell the message.
