Obama has been elected.
many leaders across the world are looking forward to his presidency (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/us_elections_2008/7711321.stm).
many people are optimistic about his victory, but will he be able to do the right thing about the wars in the middle east, the economy, and the changing world in which we live in?
whats your opinion? what do you think should be done?

As for the US economy I'm pretty sure he'll do more for the average American than W. or Mr McCain would have done. The Middle East will be difficult to say the least. I'm not sure what he'll do, but to expect anything new is probably hoping too much.

Are you by any chance listening to 'live and let die'?

I´m rather hoping he does what he said he would do on his web site i.e. talk to people. Find out what the issues actually are rather than what we all think they are.
The Dems should call an immediate lame duck session of Congress to fix the bailout. Giving the Treasury Secretary virtually unfettered discretion to dole out hundreds of billions of dollars to incompetent banks was a fear based mistake. As noted in other threads, the banks that received funds are doing virtually nothing to pump money into the economy; instead they are buying out other banks, planning to raise stock dividends or do other things that intend to help their bottom line but not the country's.
Some guillotining of bankers who are biggest abusers of public money would be a good start to discourage the others.
