Oh, it can't be because he was an icon and a huge assistance to the revolution! That would be way too obvious!

Angola constitutes a foreign war because, doh, it involves Cuban troops fighting a war in a foreign country.

...[text shortened]... ting one side of Angolans in a civil war against capitalist and/or right-wing Angolan forces.[/b]
I didn't say it was Cuba vs Angola.

You're correct - it was Cuba assisting the left forces in a civil war.

But let's get the simple bits right (in small steps).

Angola is not Cuba. It is a different country. This is known as 'foreign'.

Cuban forces fought a war in Angola. (Doesn't matter it was a civil war).

Ergo, Cuba fought in a foreign war.

Which bit of this is causing you difficulty?

There is a difference between fighting a foreign war and fighting in a foreign war. One is assistance. The other is, well, a war.

Bollox. They're both wars. They're both foreign.

The US in many of its imperialist adventures could be said to be 'assisting' someone or the other.

Cuban troops, fighting in wars in Africa, is fighting foreign wars. And fighting in foreign wars. Same thing.

Expect on planet Scherzo.

That was different. That was the US army against the Viet Minh and Viet Cong. In Angola the Cubans assisted leftist groups; in Vietnam right-wing groups assisted the US.

So you are fighting a foreign war if you are "right-wing" and you are fighting in a foreign war if you are "left-wing".

If you're assisting a foreign group, you're not fighting a foreign war. If a foreign group is assisting you and you've got soldiers in a foreign country, then you're fighting a foreign war.

And what was it you were trying to say again? This arbitrarily assigned word "in" has some kind of relevance, how?

That depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.

Worthy the of the Alice In Wonderland line: "Words mean what I say they mean".
This thread will go down as one of Schizo's best, ever, displays of reasoning power. He has never lost an argument in his life I'd wager.
