As long as Americans are foolish enough to believe socialism is bad without even knowing the definition of the word there is no reason for politicians to pretend to be liberal. Trump supporters don't look it up in a dictionary since they believe it and democrats don't look it up because they would know Bernie Sanders was never a socialist at all.

Why pretend not to be Fascists when demonizing the left works so well? Heck, even Biden doesn't have to pretend to have leftist policies. He will get votes just for not being Trump. Biden can frack up the country and dems will defend him anyway. No reason for him to support the green new deal. Dems will vote for him anyway.

It isn't about voting for Biden, it is about voting against Trump.
See how easily people are divided and conquered? The establishment got dems to hate Trump so much they will accept the same policies as Trump as long as it isn't Trump being POTUS.

@Metal-brain, if socialism or even communism was voluntary I'd have no problem with it.

You cannot trust politicians with such sweeping powers, it has been proven over and over again.
All it takes is for a corrupt leader to start using those powers for evil purposes, and then it dawns on you
that you cannot back out it. In other words, it's not he benefits of wanted socialism that are evil,
it is the iron-fisted corrupt leaders that are given the irrevocable powers.

You are obviously willfully ignorant of what Democratic Socialism actually is . Think West Germany in the 1970's . A Democratic Socialist country with one of the strongest economies in the world . Far superior to the US at that time . But I bet you knew that .

Socialism is just as voluntary as capitalism.

    And you're obviously wrong.

Willy Brandt to this day is considered one of the best Chancellors of Germany and was not corrupt.

Capitalism can be toxic. Free market is the way to go when pursuing freedom. completely voluntary.

Capitalism is the bastardization you get of a formerly good system when corrupt polls use their powers for evil purposes.

Yeah... I’m forcing you into socialism...

However, trump is forcing families apart and losing kids in the system. Doesn’t seem to be much choice there.

    @Duchess64
    From your post:
"In a significant shift since 2000, the GOP has taken to demonising and
encouraging violence against its opponents, adopting attitudes and tactics
comparable to ruling nationalist parties in Hungary, India, Poland and Turkey.
The shift has both led to and been driven by the rise of Donald Trump."
    What are you talking about?
THAT'S WHAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN DOING EVER SINCE OBAMA BECAME PRESIDENT.
Maxine Waters is a perfect example:
