MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan Slams Right-Wing ‘Barbie’ Culture Wars: ‘It’s Pretty Pathetic’

https://www.thewrap.com/mehdi-hasan-slams-right-wing-barbie-culture-wars-msnbc-clip/

The host of “The Mehdi Hasan Show” questions where the conservative movement went awry: “There was a time when conservatives had substantive things to say”

“These are grown men losing their minds over a movie about a doll. What has happened to the conservative movement?” he bemoaned. “There was a time when conservatives had substantive things to say about taxes, regulation, defense, foreign policy. But now it’s just, ‘Barbie this, Dr. Seuss that.’ Bud Light, Mr. Potato Head, the skin color of the Little Mermaid. It’s ridiculous, it’s childish. It’s pretty pathetic, actually.”

What’s wrong with the Barbie movie, according to them???

One of the problems ( no joke ) is that Barbies imaginary rout out of Barbie land includes some dashes in the South China Sea which conservatives claim is Chinese propaganda re the nine dash line. The same map has the UK in the same area attached to China I believe 😂😂
They is so stooopid

"Too feminist". "Anti-Men". "Woke".

Right-wing media figure Jack Posobiec declared the film a "man-hating Woke propaganda fest."

Well, if "conservatives" hate the movie, then maybe it has some merit after all. Oppenheimer is still much higher on my list, though.

@Suzianne

It's a white privilege extravaganza! No wonder why you like it, Suzi

It's Margot Robbie, what else do you expect?

Also, a movie rec, while I'm at it... Focus, from 2015.

To be fair I’ve read a critique from a non conservative that loves the movie but does fault it for inverting rather than seriously challenging the patriarchy.
Oppenheimer is probably a much more vivid critique of the consequences and utter stupidity of patriarchy.

To be fair, the extreme right in America is far far down a rabbit hole of stupidity, they think the KKK is woke.
