An underwhelming response to Romney's convention speech according to Gallup:

A new Gallup poll shows that 38% of national adults rated Mitt Romney’s convention speech as either excellent or good -- that's the lowest percentage since Gallup began tracking this question in 1996.

Gore actually came across as very personable in his convention speech, particularly when he kissed his wife. It was the debates that cost him some votes, with the makeup and the Academy Award type acceptance speeches in lieu of answers.

I have no idea what impression Romney made on undecided voters. The pundits seem to think he did well. We know that Ra ...[text shortened]... ll give him a bounce, but let's see what happens with the real polsters over the next few days.
Who are the "real pollsters"? Not NBC WSJ who sampled 11% more Democrats in order to get a 6% advantage for Obama?

Sounds like a representative sample of registered voters. As of last year:

Registered Democrats still dominate the political playing field with more than 42 million voters, compared to 30 million Republicans and 24 million independents.

It's odd that the Wall Street Journal would be accused of commissioning a poll with "liberal bias".

I wonder how many of those Republicans are RINOs?

I saw those numbers and they confound me. I thought the speech was good and everyone who commented at the beginning of this thread (including a few liberals) thought the same. Hardly scientific, I know, but still. My guess is that conservatives didn't like it because there wasn't enough red meat for the wingnuts and liberals don't like it because they'll never like anything Mitt has to say. I would imagine much of that 38% came from moderates.

Like norm, you're free to believe whatever you want even though there isn't any evidence supporting your belief.

I kinda thought when he said "Hardly scientific, I know...", and "My guess is that...", and "I would imagine..." that it was pretty clear sh76 wasn't attempting to rely on supporting evidence. I'm also sure he knows he's free to believe whatever he wants. Sometimes people enjoy these things called "conversations", where mere opinions are shared and needless insults are considered rude.

What SG said.

Though I do appreciate the reminder that I am free to believe what I want.

I prefer educated guesses based on some evidence rather than wishful thinking based on personal preferences in a Debates forum. We have Spirituality for faith based statements like the one he made in that post.

Oh well then. Feel free to insult away whenever a post does not conform to what you prefer. It makes you so much more persuasive.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think utherpendragon would describe himself as a centrist at all.

He claims he isn't a Republican and despite his passionate posts about political issues he is reasonable and intelligent in my opinion. Anyway he claims I'm a centrist and anyone that claims I'm a centrist is clearly not on the lunatic fringe. Those people think I'm a radical leftist.

If you have utherpendragon down as a centrist, that would put him more or less in the same camp as Barack Obama. Doesn't seem quite right to me. You once characterized me as a "communist". That wasn't right either.

I doubt I ever called you a Communist.

Obama is left-centrist. I'm listing people who are right-centrist.
