Ronald Reagan was obviously a Marxist, who was envious of rich people.

As were all Republicans pre-2000.

You are clearly missing the point. You guarantee me that an increase in taxes will go toward debt reduction and I won't oppose it. I'll go you one better, you get your man and this congress to actually pass a budget that doesn't need increased revenue and I'll go in for a tax increase. I'm sorry that you think I hate this president because I oppose huge government spending. The truth is, the government is huge and bloated and ineffective at the programs it runs. That's why doctors are refusing medicare patients. That's why social security can't provide a cost of living increase. That's why welfare has created a class of individuals that is entirely dependent on the state. That's why public education is failing kids in the inner cities and to a lesser degree the rest of the kids in this country. Until this government proves that they are capable of distinguishing their a##es from from the hole they are digging, I don't feel like we should give them more money.

it would be good to have the context and the entirety of the talk Reagan was giving. Otherwise, we are all spinners.

How does cutting budgets improve the efficiency of government-run and/or -funded programs?

take government out completely,, say Amtrak for one,, it's skimming along by government hand outs,, let private companies take over and it would be profitable...

Reagan didn't put any of those restrictions on his tax increases, and he spent and spent. Of course, he ended up increasing the tax rates on bus drivers, but at least he talked a good talk.
